No: Marvel is not shutting down its comics. Marvel Unlimited is being sunset and replaced by a new Marvel Comics digital service, announced for November 16, 2026. The new service is described as having more than 35,000 comics, and Marvel says readers can import much of their existing account history and library. The critical date for reading comics in Marvel Unlimited is December 7—not the app-removal date of December 28.
What is closing—and what is replacing it?
Marvel Unlimited, its current digital comics service and app, is being discontinued. Marvel and WEBTOON have announced a replacement called Marvel Comics, scheduled to launch November 16, 2026. Marvel describes the new service’s catalog as containing more than 35,000 comics. This is a change of service, not an announcement that Marvel is permanently deleting its comics. When does Marvel Unlimited stop working?
The transition has several milestones. December 7 is the important cutoff if you still want to read comics in Marvel Unlimited; December 28 is when the app is removed, not an extension of reading access. The dates below are reported from Marvel FAQ information by Popverse.

| October 5, 2026 | Marvel Unlimited stops accepting new sign-ups. |

What happens to your Marvel Unlimited comics and account?
You will need to create a new account for Marvel Comics; your current Marvel Unlimited account will not automatically transfer. Marvel says the new service supports importing your library, follows, reading history, purchases, and redemptions. Bookmarks and lists do not transfer. Marvel’s service FAQ
The announced transfer rules do not establish that every individual issue will be available at every point in the transition, nor do they describe an alternate way to preserve bookmarks or lists. Follow the official account setup and import instructions when available, and contact service support if your account-specific import has a problem. If bookmarks or lists matter to you, keep any personal notes you need before access to the old library ends; no official export or backup method is established in the available information.

Will your Marvel Unlimited subscription transfer?
No automatic transfer of subscriptions or payment details is expected. The Los Angeles Times reports that subscribers whose paid time is cut short can expect prorated refunds; Marvel’s service page says it would contact existing members about subscription next steps. Check the notices and billing route for your own account rather than assuming all subscribers have identical terms. Los Angeles Times Marvel

Marvel says its Ultimate tier will provide new issues as soon as 30 days after print. Its official page lists a limited-time prelaunch Ultimate Annual founders offer at $59.99, with stated savings of 40%; the page also says the redemption code expires March 31, 2027. These are terms of the announced offer, not a guarantee of its continuing availability or a permanent subscription price. Review the current offer and its terms on Marvel’s service page before deciding whether to subscribe.
