Lenovo Vantage is useful if you rely on its model-specific settings, diagnostics, support tools, or update workflow; if you do not use those features, uninstalling it is a reasonable choice. First check how your exact Lenovo model receives BIOS, firmware, and driver updates. The route varies by model and platform, so neither keeping nor removing Vantage is the right answer for every Lenovo PC.
What Lenovo Vantage does
Lenovo describes Vantage as a Windows app for device status, hardware settings, health monitoring, diagnostics, warranty lookup, support, and UEFI BIOS, firmware, and driver updates. Depending on the computer, it may also include battery and power controls, audio and camera settings, keyboard and input options, security features, user guides, compatible accessories, and promotional content. Lenovo says the available features vary by model and can change over time.
For example, Lenovo’s guides describe System Update and controls for items such as the battery, camera, display, keyboard, microphones, speakers, and touchpad. Those examples are not a promise that every control appears on every PC. Lenovo says Vantage replaced Lenovo Companion, Lenovo Settings, and Lenovo Account Portal. Should you keep it or uninstall it?

Lenovo says Vantage is available through Microsoft Store if you later decide you want it back. Its support information does not establish that removing the app stops all updates, or that every advertised function is available elsewhere in Windows.

Will your Lenovo still get updates without Vantage?
Lenovo documents Vantage as one route for downloading and installing UEFI BIOS, firmware, and driver updates on supported computers. That does not mean every Lenovo device depends on Vantage. Check the support page or guide for your exact model before uninstalling, especially if you depend on BIOS or firmware updates.
Windows on ARM is a documented exception
For the ARM products covered by Lenovo’s FAQ, product drivers and BIOS updates are handled through Windows Update. Lenovo also notes that some Vantage features on those products are unsupported or lack a Vantage interface. This guidance applies to the ARM products in that FAQ, not to all Lenovo PCs. How to uninstall Lenovo Vantage in Windows
Microsoft documents two standard removal routes. These are general Windows instructions; Windows may not allow some apps to be uninstalled.
- From Start: Open Start > All apps, find Lenovo Vantage, right-click it or press and hold it, then choose Uninstall.
- From Settings: Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Lenovo Vantage, select More > Uninstall, and follow the prompts.
If Windows does not offer an uninstall option, Microsoft notes that some apps cannot be removed through Settings. For the standard steps and limitations, see Microsoft’s app removal guidance.

What is known about Vantage’s privacy and performance?
Lenovo’s installation instructions ask users to choose preferences and read and agree to its privacy policy. That establishes that privacy preferences and a policy are presented; it does not, by itself, show that Vantage is spyware or specify its current data collection in detail. The cited official material also does not provide an independent, reproducible comparison of Vantage’s background resource use or effect on PC performance. There is not enough evidence here to label the app either harmless or a performance drain across devices.
