fb.gg was Facebook’s gaming-video discovery hub, not a separate streaming network. Facebook introduced it in 2018 to bring live and prerecorded gaming videos together. The latest audience figures in the available reporting show Facebook Gaming far behind Twitch in tracked watch time, while Facebook’s dedicated Gaming Creator Program was announced for retirement in 2026. That points to a much smaller competitor—not proof that fb.gg or Facebook Gaming has formally shut down.
What was fb.gg?
Facebook introduced fb.gg in June 2018 as a destination for discovering gaming videos already hosted on Facebook. Its launch design collected live and prerecorded video and used social signals to surface content: creators and games people followed, Pages they liked, and Groups they belonged to. Facebook described it as a place that “aggregates live and prerecorded gaming video on Facebook in one place” (Meta’s 2018 announcement).
That distinction matters: fb.gg was a discovery layer within Facebook’s wider ecosystem, rather than an independent streaming network with a separate creator base. The launch description is historical; it does not establish what fb.gg’s interface or availability is today.
Is fb.gg a challenger to Twitch now?
Facebook has competed in gaming video, but the latest measured audience comparison shows Twitch at a vastly larger scale. Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet reported 14.8 million hours watched on Facebook Gaming in Q2 2026, compared with 4.52 billion hours on Twitch. Facebook Gaming’s figure was down 45.5% quarter over quarter and 64.8% year over year, and represented roughly 0.1% of total tracked industry watch time (Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet’s Q2 2026 report).

- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- WORKS WITH WINDOWS SONIC — Make the most of the headset’s powerful drivers by pairing it with lifelike surround sound that places audio with pinpoint accuracy, heightening in-game awareness and immersion
These are reported watch-time figures, not a census of every viewer, creator, geography, or Facebook video placement. They show a substantial gap in the report’s measured dataset, but do not by themselves establish that Facebook has closed its gaming service.
How did the services differ in the evidence available?
The documented distinction is about Facebook’s discovery model, not a verified feature-by-feature comparison of current platform tools. Facebook’s 2018 description presented fb.gg as a social destination for gaming video already on Facebook. The Q2 2026 report supplies a current, dated comparison of tracked watch time, but the available evidence does not support detailed claims about relative moderation systems, payouts, or creator tools.

| What the cited evidence establishes | fb.gg was announced in 2018 as a Facebook gaming-video discovery destination. | Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet reported 4.52 billion hours watched in Q2 2026. |
| Tracked watch time in Q2 2026 | 14.8 million Facebook Gaming hours watched, according to Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet. | 4.52 billion hours watched, according to Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet. |
| Relative share in the report | Roughly 0.1% of total tracked industry watch time. | Not stated as a percentage in the cited Q2 2026 report figures. |
An earlier Streamlabs and Stream Hatchet report recorded 66,511,853 Facebook Gaming hours and 5,142,762,709 Twitch hours in Q3 2024 (Q3 2024 report). Treat that as historical context, not as a direct trend line with Q2 2026: the figures come from different periods, and a trend comparison requires checking consistent measurement methods.
What does the Gaming Creator Program retirement mean?
A 2025 report quoted Facebook as saying its Gaming Creator Program would go away in 2026. Facebook said dedicated partner support for the group would end starting October 31, 2025, while creators could continue using monetization tools until the program itself ended. The report said Facebook directed creators to Content Monetization and Facebook Subscriptions (Social Media Today’s report).

The exact 2026 end date and the program’s current enrollment status are not established by that report. Its announcement concerns a dedicated gaming creator program; it should not be confused with all creator earnings on Facebook. Meta said Facebook paid nearly $3 billion to creators during 2025, up 35% from 2024, across its creator monetization programs (Meta’s 2026 announcement). Meta describes Content Monetization as a general program covering Reels, longer videos, photos, and text posts—not evidence that a gaming-specific partner program remains active (Meta’s Content Monetization information).
What should streamers know about setup and saved broadcasts?
Streaming equipment
Meta describes streaming with software or external hardware, but does not name a capture card or make one a platform requirement (Meta’s streaming guidance). Whether additional hardware is useful depends on the creator’s setup; the cited guidance does not establish a universal equipment list.

Replay retention
Meta said new Facebook Live broadcasts made from February 19, 2025 would be removed after 30 days unless creators downloaded or otherwise preserved them (Meta’s Facebook Live storage guidance). Creators who want to keep a replay should plan to save it rather than assume it will remain available indefinitely.

The evidence here does not establish a formal shutdown of fb.gg, its current redirect behavior, or the completion date of the Gaming Creator Program’s retirement. A decline in reported watch time and the announced end of a dedicated creator program are not, on their own, proof that the service has closed. The sound conclusion is narrower: fb.gg was Facebook’s gaming-video discovery hub, and current tracked watch-time data shows Facebook Gaming operating at a much smaller audience scale than Twitch.
