The “in the coming days” wording comes from older reporting about Facebook Lite for iOS, not a verified current announcement from Meta. That report said users were directed to the regular Facebook app, but it does not establish the app’s present App Store availability or whether a new shutdown is underway.
Is Facebook Lite shutting down on iPhone now?
The headline that Facebook would discontinue its Lite app “in the coming days” refers to historical coverage. TechJuice reported that Facebook Lite for iOS users saw a notice saying the app would be disabled. Its search result is labeled six years old, but does not provide a definitive original publication date. TechJuice’s report is secondary reporting, not a current Meta announcement.

A Meta Newsroom search result did not surface a new Facebook Lite shutdown announcement, but that alone does not prove no official notice exists. The evidence available does not establish a 2026 cutoff date, the geographic scope of any discontinuation, or current App Store availability. Meta Newsroom
What did the older shutdown notice say?
TechJuice quoted an in-app notice as saying: “Facebook Lite for iOS will be disabled. You can use the original Facebook App to keep in touch with friends and family.” The publisher also attributed a statement to a Facebook spokesperson saying the decision was due to “limit adaptation” and improvements to the experience in Meta’s apps. Because this wording is reproduced in historical secondary reporting, it should not be treated as a new instruction or a direct current statement from Meta.

- Vibrant 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology. Action mode for smooth, steady, handheld videos.
The old report pointed users to the regular Facebook app. It does not confirm whether that app is the only option today or whether the Lite app still works for any users.
What can iPhone users use instead?
If Facebook Lite is unavailable or no longer works on your iPhone, the practical options are the regular Facebook app or Facebook in a mobile browser. The historical report specifically directed users to the regular app. The sources available do not establish feature parity, device compatibility, or differences in storage, speed, or data use between these options.

No. Facebook Lite is a Facebook app; Messenger Lite is a separate messaging app. TechCrunch’s report concerns Messenger Lite and says its iOS version was shut down in 2020. That information does not establish when Facebook Lite for iOS was disabled or whether it is currently available. TechCrunch’s Messenger Lite report
