iOS and Android are not interchangeable experiences

Check support for the exact model
Apple’s iOS 26 compatibility guide includes iPhone 11 and later, including the iPhone 17 family. That demonstrates eligibility for the listed operating-system release; it does not promise a fixed number of future years of support. Apple also cautions that features and apps can vary by model, region, language, and carrier.
Android Authority reported in 2025 that Samsung’s seven-year flagship update policy began with the Galaxy S24 series and applies to later flagship series such as the S25. What do I lose if I switch from Android to iPhone?
Moving platforms is possible, but a transfer is not necessarily a complete one-tap copy. Apple’s Move to iOS guide describes transfer support for contacts, messages, photos, files, settings, bookmarks, mail accounts, WhatsApp content, and calendars where supported. Some matching free apps may also transfer. Apple says music, books, and PDFs need to be moved manually. Supported devices and operating-system versions affect which route is available, so check Apple’s current requirements before setup.
If you are moving in the other direction, Samsung’s US Galaxy Guide describes Smart Switch as a way to move content such as contacts, photos, music, video, and messages to Galaxy devices. Its guide also says basic Samsung-provided Galaxy AI features are free, while enhanced Samsung and third-party features may have separate terms or fees; those statements are from Samsung’s US guide and may not apply identically elsewhere.
Before switching, identify anything you cannot afford to leave behind—such as files stored outside a supported transfer category, purchased media, or app-specific data—and confirm how to move or access it. Apple also describes setup assistance, Move to iOS, and AppleCare options on its buying page, but coverage price, eligibility, and terms depend on the buyer’s market.
What changes if you are comparing the Galaxy S25 with iPhone 16?
Some frequently repeated comparisons concern the previous generation, not the iPhone 17.
