In the US, RiverPrice reported that a specific unlocked 256GB Amazon listing was $978, with a tracked low of $956.59 on September 10, 2026. That is the tracker’s history for one listing—not proof of the lowest offer across all retailers.
What is the lowest iPhone 17 Pro price?
For a new, unlocked 256GB iPhone 17 Pro listing on Amazon in the US, RiverPrice reported a price of $978 and a historical low of $956.59, which it attributed to September 10, 2026. RiverPrice’s price-history page tracks that listing; its figure does not establish a market-wide record or confirm that the same price is available now. Check the live listing, seller, storage and condition before buying.
Apple has removed the iPhone 17 Pro from its lineup following the iPhone 18 Pro release, according to Tom’s Guide. Remaining availability may depend on retailer or carrier stock, so check the specific seller’s warranty and return terms as well as its price.
How US used prices compare
Swappa’s marketplace data, reported on October 6, 2026, is for used phones rather than new retail stock. It lists an $820 starting price and average sale prices that vary by storage:
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
| Storage | Swappa figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| 256GB | $914 average sale price | Used-market sales |
| 512GB | $1,043 average sale price | Used-market sales |
| 1TB | $1,059 average sale price | Used-market sales |
| Not storage-specific | $820 starting price | Used-market starting price |
These figures come from Swappa’s marketplace data. They are not directly comparable to a new, unlocked retail offer. Match both storage and condition when weighing prices.
How to judge carrier promotions
Carrier ads may frame an iPhone as “free” or advertise a large discount, but the effective price can depend on trade-in eligibility, a new line, a qualifying unlimited plan and installment bill credits. Tom’s Guide’s carrier deal coverage describes offers with such conditions; the headline amount alone does not show what you will pay overall.

- Calculate the total cost of the required plan over the full installment term, not just the phone payment.
- Check the required trade-in model and condition, and account for the value you realistically expect after inspection.
- Confirm new-line requirements, bill-credit timing, and what happens to credits if you cancel, switch plans or upgrade early.
- Compare the carrier’s full cost with a same-storage, same-condition unlocked phone and a plan you would otherwise choose.
How to evaluate an India offer
A Reddit discussion describes one intended Reliance Digital purchase calculation that combines a store discount, a card discount and an estimated exchange value. The post and commenters also include individual transaction reports, but this discussion is anecdotal; it does not establish an official or broadly available India price.
For an India quote, keep the listed price, card discount and exchange estimate separate. Treat the exchange amount as conditional on inspection, and verify the retailer’s current stock, final payable amount, warranty and return terms. Do not compare the resulting figure directly with US prices.

What to check before buying
- Define the offer: note the country, currency, seller, date and whether the phone is new, used or refurbished.
- Match the configuration: compare the same storage capacity and unlocked or carrier-locked status. Check color too if it affects stock or price.
- Find the real total: add required plan payments and installments; separate any trade-in estimate, card discount or bill credit from the upfront price.
- Verify terms: check live availability, seller identity, warranty, returns and any cancellation or upgrade conditions.
- Check the comparison: make sure any price-history record refers to the same listing and configuration, and note the date and seller set it covers.
