The 128GB iPad mini (A17 Pro) was reported at $499 at Amazon in the U.S. on October 6, 2026, down $100 from its $599 list price. That was a worthwhile discount if you wanted a small iPad, but it was not a record low: Macworld reported a previous low of $349 for the same configuration. Prime Big Deal Days ran October 6–7, so the reported price is a dated deal snapshot, not a guarantee that it is still available.
What was the October Prime Day iPad mini deal?
PhoneArena reported a $100 discount on the 128GB iPad mini (A17 Pro) at Amazon on October 6, 2026. Macworld’s U.S. deal table gave the price as $499, compared with a $599 MSRP. These reports describe U.S. pricing for that date; Amazon’s current price, stock, and eligibility conditions may differ.
Tom’s Guide reported that Prime Big Deal Days—also called October Prime Day—ran October 6–7, 2026, and that the event’s deals were for Prime members. The event has ended, and its dates alone do not establish whether this particular offer continued afterward.
Was $499 a good price, or should you wait?
Macworld’s table lists $349 as the historical U.S. low it reported for the 128GB A17 Pro iPad mini. At $499, the October deal was $100 below the listed MSRP, but $150 above that reported low. It was a discount, not a record-setting price. If you need a compact tablet now, $499 may still suit your budget; if you are focused on getting the lowest reported price, the historical figure is a reason to consider waiting for another sale.

Who should consider this deal?
- Choose the mini if portability matters most. Its 8.3-inch screen and 0.65-pound Wi-Fi model make it the smaller-screen option for reading, note-taking, and carrying around. If your priority is a larger workspace, compare it with a larger iPad before buying.
- Pick storage for how you use the tablet. Apple offers 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions. The $499 report applies specifically to the 128GB configuration; it does not establish prices for the larger capacities.
- Decide whether you need cellular service. Apple offers Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular models. The reported $499 deal concerns the 128GB configuration and should not be assumed to apply to a cellular version.
- Weigh the sale against your timing. The reported price was below MSRP but above Macworld’s reported historical low. An expected successor was unconfirmed, so waiting involves uncertainty rather than a known launch schedule.
U.S. and UK prices were different
The $499 deal was reported for U.S. Amazon pricing. Macworld separately reported only a £5 reduction on the 128GB iPad mini in the UK at the time of its update. The U.S. discount should not be treated as a global offer.
