How fast does the iPad mini 7 charge?
Apple does not give a full-charge time or a charging curve for the iPad mini (A17 Pro). The firmest model-specific guidance is its safety information: a charger must deliver between 15W and 45W “in order to achieve the maximum charging speed,” and the device supports USB PD fast charging under USB Implementers Forum Power Delivery Specification Revision 3.1. Apple’s iPad mini (A17 Pro) safety information does not say that the iPad draws 45W continuously.
Apple lists a built-in 19.3Wh lithium-polymer battery and USB-C charging for the model. Battery capacity alone cannot be used to calculate a reliable full-charge time: the cited specifications do not provide the tablet’s charging power over time. Apple’s iPad mini specifications describe the battery and included accessories, not a charge-time test.
What charger comes with iPad mini 7?
Apple lists a 20W USB-C Power Adapter and a 1-metre USB-C Charge Cable in the box. The included adapter is therefore within Apple’s stated 15W–45W charger-power range; Apple does not publish a model-specific time for charging with it. Apple’s specifications list the box contents.

The USB-C port can charge from a power adapter or from a computer over USB-C, according to Apple’s iPad charging guidance. A computer’s available output can vary, and the cited support page does not specify a resulting charge time for this iPad mini.
Will a 45W charger make it charge faster?
Apple associates charger power up to 45W with the device’s maximum charging speed, so a USB-C Power Delivery adapter rated at 45W is within the documented range. Apple also says a higher-wattage USB-C adapter, such as one supplied with a Mac laptop, can be used with an iPad for faster charging. It does not quantify the improvement for a particular adapter, cable, or iPad mini configuration. Apple’s support guidance is general iPad advice rather than a measured result for this model.

A 45W adapter is optional, not a requirement: Apple includes a 20W adapter. The wattage printed on a charger is its rated output capability, not a promise that the iPad will draw that amount at every point in a charging session.

- For the included setup: Use the supplied 20W USB-C adapter and 1-metre cable.
- If buying an adapter for maximum-speed compatibility: Choose a USB-C Power Delivery charger rated up to 45W, the upper charger-power figure in Apple’s device-specific safety information.
- If sharing a multiport charger: Check how its output is divided when multiple devices are connected; the total rating may not be available to the iPad on its own.
- If you already own a stronger USB-C adapter: Apple says a higher-wattage USB-C adapter can be used with an iPad. The cited sources do not establish a guaranteed time or speed for a specific charger-and-cable pairing.
Apple’s October 2024 environmental report describes testing the iPad mini with a fully charged battery and the included 20W adapter and 1-metre cable.
