Yes. Used eBay listings cited for the Intel Xeon E5-2696 v4 were priced below $150, before or including shipping as shown by each seller. These are individual asking prices, not a market average or a guarantee of current stock. The key buying question is whether the delivered cost, listing terms, and compatibility with your exact system still make the chip a good fit.

What sub-$150 offers have been listed?

The cited eBay product page showed these used asking prices. Availability and listing terms can change, so check the live offer and final checkout total before buying.

Observed asking price Shipping shown What to note
$58.99 $10 The listing explicitly said no heatsink or cooler was included.
$85 $7 Used listing.
$87.99 $5 Used listing.
$90 $5 Used listing.
$98 $5 Used listing.
$114.45 Free shipping Used listing.
$105.82 or best offer International shipping A separate used listing; check the destination-specific shipping and any import charges.

These eBay examples show that the price ceiling is attainable on that marketplace, but do not establish a typical price across sellers or platforms. PassMark displayed a $295 price dated September 28, 2026, alongside an Amazon purchase link; that is a single merchant signal, not proof that every Amazon offer costs $295, and it does not establish an Amazon offer below $150. A Hardware Direct refurbished listing showed two in stock at $150.19 with a 12-month warranty when retrieved, slightly above the cap; inventory and terms can change.

What CPU are you buying?

PassMark lists the E5-2696 v4 as a 22-core, 44-thread Xeon for the FCLGA2011-3 socket, with a 2.2 GHz base clock, up to 3.6 GHz turbo, 55 MB L3 cache, and 150 W typical TDP. PassMark charts place its first appearance in Q2 2016.

PassMark reports an average CPU Mark of 24,538 and a single-thread rating of 2,114, based on 279 samples, with PerformanceTest V10 data through September 30, 2026. These are submitted benchmark averages, not a promise of performance from a particular used processor or in a specific application.

How to check whether it will work in your system

Do not rely on socket fit alone. Intel’s June 2016 E5 v4 family datasheet describes DDR4 support and up to 40 PCI Express 3.0 lanes per socket at the family level; it does not certify that every motherboard or server supports this exact CPU. Before ordering, verify the precise machine or motherboard model against its vendor’s CPU support information.

  • Confirm that the exact motherboard or server model supports the E5-2696 v4.
  • Check whether that system requires a particular BIOS or firmware version.
  • Verify the board’s power delivery and cooling capacity for a 150 W processor.
  • Confirm that the listing includes a cooler if you need one; do not assume it is bundled.

What to check before paying

Compare the delivered total rather than the headline price, and review the listing’s condition, return terms, and warranty. Include shipping and, for an international order, any applicable import charges. A lower-priced chip may be a worse purchase if returns are limited, the cooler is missing, or your platform does not support it.
