The Core i3-14100 is the stronger choice for multitasking, demanding office work, and CPU-limited gaming; Intel Processor 300 costs less and uses less base power for basic tasks. Both are LGA1700 desktop CPUs and support DDR4 or DDR5, but their core counts and integrated graphics differ substantially.

Intel Processor 300 vs. Core i3-14100 specifications

Intel’s specifications show that the i3-14100 has twice as many performance cores and threads, twice the Smart Cache, and a higher listed maximum frequency. Processor 300 has the lower base-power rating and recommended price range.

Which processor is better for your workload?

Choose the Core i3-14100 for multitasking and heavier work

Four cores and eight threads give the i3-14100 more capacity for workloads that can run tasks in parallel. Its larger caches and listed turbo frequency also make it the better specification-based pick for compiling, photo work, heavier office use, and games that are limited by CPU performance. These are conclusions from the published specifications, not measured benchmark results.

Choose Processor 300 for basic, low-cost systems

For web browsing, basic office applications, point-of-sale systems, or a modest home server, Processor 300 may be sufficient if the workload does not demand much parallel processing. Its lower Intel recommended price range and 46 W base-power rating can suit a build where purchase cost and rated base power matter more than additional throughput.

For gaming without a graphics card

Both CPUs include integrated graphics, but the i3-14100’s UHD Graphics 730 has 24 execution units and a listed maximum frequency of 1.5 GHz; Processor 300’s UHD Graphics 710 has 16 execution units and is listed up to 1.45 GHz. That makes the i3-14100 the stronger choice on graphics specifications alone. The available specifications do not establish game frame rates or show that either processor will deliver a particular gaming experience; results depend on the game, settings, and system configuration.

Do both processors work with an LGA1700 motherboard?

Both use the FCLGA1700 package, but socket fit alone does not guarantee that a particular motherboard will support a processor. Intel lists H610, B660, H670, Z690, B760, H770, and Z790 chipset families for the Core i3-14100. Check the exact motherboard model’s CPU support list and required BIOS version before buying. Intel’s compatibility information is available on its Core i3-14100 compatibility page.

Memory, power, and upgrade considerations

  • Memory choice: Both support DDR4-3200 or DDR5-4800 memory across two channels. The motherboard determines which memory type you can install; DDR4 and DDR5 are not interchangeable on a board.
  • Power rating: Processor 300 is rated at 46 W base power. The i3-14100 is rated at 60 W base power and 110 W maximum turbo power. These are Intel’s processor power specifications, not a prediction of total system draw.
  • Upgrade planning: Both are LGA1700 parts, but verify support for the specific CPU and BIOS on the board you intend to use. A shared socket does not by itself confirm compatibility.

See Intel’s Processor 300 specification page and Core i3-14100 specification page for the respective platform details.
