A desktop Intel Arc B570 or B580 is worth considering when your current integrated graphics cannot meet the settings or resolution you want in the games you play. The B-series cards are desktop add-in GPUs Intel positions for gaming, including 1440p. But there is no verified universal frame-rate uplift over integrated Arc: the result depends on the exact processor, game, settings and system. Before buying, check live local pricing, Resizable BAR support, power supply capacity and case fit. If you use a laptop, a desktop Arc card is not a routine internal replacement for its integrated GPU.

What does “Intel Arc” mean: integrated graphics or a separate card?
“Intel Arc” can refer to graphics built into a processor or to a discrete graphics card. The word Arc by itself does not tell you which type you have, how fast it is in a particular game, or whether a desktop card will fit your device.

Some Intel processors include an integrated GPU that shares system memory with the processor and other components. Intel’s architecture reference describes selected Core Ultra Series 2 mobile examples: Arc 130V has seven Xe-cores and Arc 140V has eight. Those examples are not a complete inventory or ranking of every integrated Arc product. Core counts and product labels alone cannot tell you the expected gaming frame rate.

A discrete Arc GPU, such as the B570 or B580, is a separate desktop add-in card with its own graphics memory. The B580 has 12 GB of GDDR6 and the B570 has 10 GB. That distinction matters when assessing dedicated memory, power draw and physical installation, but it does not by itself establish how much faster either card will be in a given game.
Start by identifying your exact processor and device. On a laptop, look up its model or processor specification; on a desktop, identify the processor and whether a separate graphics card is already installed. Then consider the games and settings you actually want. Comparing an unspecified “Arc iGPU” with a B580 cannot produce a meaningful, precise FPS prediction.
When is a discrete Arc GPU worth it over integrated graphics?
It is worth evaluating a B570 or B580 when your current integrated GPU falls short of a specific gaming goal and you have a compatible desktop system. If your games already run at the resolution, visual settings and smoothness you find acceptable, the existence of a discrete card is not a reason by itself to spend money.
Make the decision from the shortfall you want to solve. For example, list the games you play, the resolution you want, the graphics settings you are willing to use, and the experience you currently get. If the integrated GPU makes you lower settings or resolution more than you want, a separate GPU is a reasonable next option to investigate. If the experience already suits you, there may be no practical problem for a new card to fix.
Intel markets its B-series desktop cards for gaming and identifies 1440p as a target use. That is a product-positioning statement, not a guarantee that every B570 or B580 will meet every game’s requirements at that resolution. The actual outcome depends on the game, settings, system configuration and any supported upscaling or frame-generation features.
There is no verified same-game comparison here between a specified 2026 integrated Arc laptop and either desktop card, so it would be misleading to promise a fixed percentage or FPS multiplier. Treat any recommendation as conditional until you have results for the exact integrated GPU and games you care about. A benchmark from one processor, game or settings preset cannot automatically stand in for another.

Use these five checks before deciding
- Game and target: Write down the titles you play and your intended resolution and settings. A vague goal such as “better gaming” is hard to judge; a defined shortfall is easier to verify.
- Exact current GPU: Identify the processor and integrated GPU in your laptop or desktop. Arc 130V and 140V are specific mobile examples, not substitutes for your own device’s specification.
- Current local card price: Compare the actual prices and availability where you live when you are ready to buy. Intel’s 2024 launch figures are historical US-dollar starting prices, not verified November 2026 retail prices.
- Memory and power: Compare dedicated memory and specified board power, then check your power supply and the card maker’s requirements. The B580 has more memory than the B570, but its specified board power is also higher.
- Compatibility: For a desktop, verify Resizable BAR, PSU connectors and capacity, motherboard slot and case clearance against the exact card model. For a laptop, do not assume a desktop add-in card can replace the integrated GPU internally.
How do the B570 and B580 differ?
The B580 has more dedicated memory and higher specified memory bandwidth; the B570 has lower specified total board power. Which is the better purchase depends on current prices, the exact card and system, and the games and settings you want—not just the larger memory number.
| Specification | Arc B570 | Arc B580 |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics memory | 10 GB GDDR6 | 12 GB GDDR6 |
| Specified memory bandwidth | 380 GB/s | 456 GB/s |
| Total board power | 150 W | 190 W |
| Interface | PCIe 4.0 x8 | PCIe 4.0 x8 |
These are Intel’s product specifications, not measured FPS or evidence that the B580 is always faster by a particular amount in every game. The B580’s additional 2 GB of GDDR6 may be relevant when comparing memory capacity, but capacity alone does not prove a particular performance advantage. Likewise, the B570’s lower specified board power does not establish how much electricity a complete gaming system will use.
Intel’s reference B580 specifications list a 600 W minimum PSU and one 8-pin connector, but the exact add-in card model matters. The quick-start guide’s dimensions and installation requirements apply to the reference card; board-partner models may differ. Check the exact card’s documentation before ordering a PSU or assuming the card will fit.
Intel also lists older A-series desktop options, including the A770 with 16 GB and the A750 with 8 GB. They are possible price-dependent alternatives, not automatic better buys because one has more VRAM. Compare current local price, card-specific compatibility and relevant game performance before treating an older card as a bargain.
Price context: Intel’s December 2024 launch announcement gave starting prices of $249 for the B580 and $219 for the B570. Those are historical US-dollar launch figures, not current transaction prices, regional quotes or proof of present stock. Check live listings for your market before making a cost comparison.

- Intel reported that the B580 was, on average, 24% faster at 1440p than the Arc A750 Limited Edition across Intel’s selected games; some tests used XeSS Performance Mode. This is Intel’s claim comparing two discrete cards, not a B580 comparison against an integrated GPU.
- Intel cited up to 3.9× frame output in a specific B580 test of F1 24 at 1440p Ultra with XeSS Ultra Performance Mode. That is not a universal gain, a native-rendered FPS comparison or a comparison with integrated Arc.
- Intel’s 2024 B-series starting prices are not a reliable substitute for current regional pricing or stock.
Intel’s B-series launch announcement describes these results and their contexts. Keep the conditions attached when interpreting them: the comparison card, game, resolution, graphics mode and upscaling setting matter. A high output-frame figure with frame generation also is not the same thing as a like-for-like native-rendered benchmark.
What are XeSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation?
XeSS 2 includes Super Resolution, Frame Generation and Xe Low Latency, according to Intel’s launch explanation. These features can affect how a game renders or presents frames, but their availability and effect depend on the chosen game and the mode used.
Super Resolution can render at a lower internal resolution and upscale the image; the resulting picture and performance trade-offs depend on the selected mode and game. Frame Generation creates additional displayed frames, which can make motion appear more fluid. It does not mean the GPU rendered every displayed frame as a conventional native frame, and an output-FPS figure should not be read as a native-rendered benchmark. Xe Low Latency is another part of the XeSS 2 feature set; check game support and configuration rather than assuming all features are active in every title.

What does a desktop Arc card require?
A desktop B-series card requires a compatible desktop chassis and power setup; it is not simply a software setting that turns an integrated GPU into a discrete one. Intel’s B580 Limited Edition quick-start guide describes the reference card’s supported-configuration checks, which should be confirmed against the exact card you plan to buy.
Check the card and case
Intel’s reference B580 guide specifies clearance for a 272 × 115 × 44 mm card and a full-size PCIe 3.0-or-newer x16 motherboard slot. The B580’s product specification lists its interface as PCIe 4.0 x8. These descriptions refer to the card’s interface and the guide’s supported motherboard slot; check the actual motherboard and card documentation. Do not assume every board-partner card uses the reference dimensions.

Check PSU capacity and connector
The reference B580 guide calls for a 600 W PSU and a PCIe 8-pin cable. Intel specifies 190 W total board power for the B580 and 150 W for the B570, but board power is not a complete-system PSU recommendation. Verify the manufacturer guidance for the exact card and consider the rest of the desktop’s components. If the existing PSU lacks the required connector or capacity, resolve that compatibility issue before buying the GPU.

Enable Resizable BAR and confirm firmware support
Intel says Resizable BAR must be enabled for optimal performance in applications using Arc B-series graphics. Its desktop setup guide also directs users to check UEFI/GPT boot configuration and motherboard support. Confirm that the motherboard and its firmware support the needed configuration, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for changing firmware settings.
Intel notes that whether a processor has integrated graphics does not itself determine Resizable BAR availability. Having an iGPU does not guarantee the feature is available, and lacking one does not by itself rule it out. Check the motherboard and system configuration rather than inferring support from the CPU’s integrated graphics.
Intel’s desktop setup guide contains the B-series setup requirements. Treat the guide’s physical measurements and PSU details as reference-card information, then verify dimensions, connector requirements and recommendations for the exact board-partner model.

Not as an ordinary internal graphics-card swap. The B570 and B580 discussed here are desktop add-in cards; a laptop’s integrated GPU is part of its processor platform, and the desktop installation requirements do not describe a standard laptop upgrade path.

How should you make the final buying decision?
Decide from your specific gaming shortfall and desktop compatibility, not from an Arc label, a core count or an isolated marketing number. A discrete B-series card is a candidate when the games and settings you want justify the expense and your desktop can support the exact model.
- Write down the goal. Name the games, resolution and settings you want, and what you find unsatisfactory about the current experience.
- Identify the current graphics hardware. Confirm the exact processor and integrated GPU; do not use Arc 130V or 140V as stand-ins unless that is actually your hardware.
- Find relevant evidence for those games. Prefer results that identify the exact GPU, game, resolution, graphics settings and whether upscaling or frame generation is enabled. Do not convert Intel’s A750 comparison or F1 24 XeSS result into an integrated-to-discrete uplift.
- Compare the B570 and B580 at live local prices. Weigh 10 GB versus 12 GB memory and 150 W versus 190 W specified board power alongside the exact card’s requirements. No source here establishes which is the better value at November 2026 prices.
- Confirm the build can accept the card. Check ReBAR, UEFI/GPT configuration, the motherboard slot, PSU capacity and connector, and actual card dimensions. Resolve a failed compatibility check before ordering.
- Reassess whether the expense solves a real problem. If integrated graphics already deliver the experience you want, the evidence here does not establish a need to buy a separate GPU.
Intel lists the B570 and B580 as discrete desktop products and publishes their specifications, but those facts do not settle whether either is a good purchase for a particular person. Your game list, exact system, local price and acceptable settings determine whether the upgrade makes sense.
