Amazon Fire tablets use Amazon Appstore, not Google Play Store. You can add Google Play by installing four Google APK packages manually, but the files must match your tablet’s exact model, Fire OS version, Android base, and processor architecture.
Before starting, charge the tablet, connect it to Wi-Fi, and remove its microSD card if one is installed. The card can interfere with APK installation on some Fire tablets.
Check your Fire tablet before downloading anything
Do not choose files based only on a name such as “Fire HD 10.” Amazon has reused names across multiple generations, and different generations can require different APK variants.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Device Options.
- Open About Fire Tablet.
- Record the exact model or generation and the Fire OS version.

This is only a guide. Each APK must also support your tablet’s CPU ABI—usually ARM/32-bit or ARM64/64-bit—and the Android version required by the APK.
What you need to install
The standard setup uses four packages. They must be installed in this order:
- Google Account Manager — com.google.android.gsf.login
- Google Services Framework — com.google.android.gsf
- Google Play Services — com.google.android.gms
- Google Play Store — com.android.vending
Use an APK page that clearly shows the package name, Android requirement, architecture, and build information. The current procedure uses APKMirror. Avoid modified, “premium,” or repackaged APKs.
There is no universal set of four newest APKs that works on every Fire tablet. Google Play Services has many variants and is the package most likely to fail when the Android base or architecture is wrong. A newer file can be incompatible even if its version number is higher.
Allow APK installation
Fire OS handles this permission differently depending on its version.

Newer Fire OS versions
- Open Settings.
- Go to Security & Privacy, or the similarly named security section.
- Open Install unknown apps.
- Enable permission for the app that will open the APKs.
Enable it for Silk Browser if Silk will open the downloaded files. If you will open them through the file manager, enable it for Files instead. The permission is per app, so allowing Silk does not necessarily allow Files to install APKs.
Older Fire OS versions
The path may be:
Settings → Security & Privacy → Apps from Unknown Sources → Silk Browser → Allow from this source
The wording and location can vary by generation. If you do not see one global “Unknown Sources” switch, look for Install unknown apps and grant permission to the actual app opening the file.
Download and install the four packages
- Open Silk Browser.
- Visit the APK download pages for the four Google packages.
- For each package, confirm the package name, Android requirement, architecture, and build variant match your tablet.
- Download all four APKs, but do not install them simply in the order shown in the Downloads folder.
Downloads can appear in completion order. Install them manually in the required sequence instead.
Install from Files
- Open Files.
- Tap Downloads.
- Select the Google Account Manager APK.
- Tap Install.
- When installation finishes, tap Done, not Open.
- Repeat for Google Services Framework.
- Repeat for Google Play Services.
- Install Google Play Store last.
Do not launch any Google component between installations. The exact order is:

Google Account Manager → Google Services Framework → Google Play Services → Google Play Store
If an APK opens in Silk instead of Files, the same installation prompt can be used there, provided Silk has permission to install unknown apps. Always choose Done after each installation so you can continue with the next package.

Restart and sign in
- After the fourth APK finishes, hold the tablet’s power button.
- Select Restart.
- After Fire OS loads, open the app named Play Store. It may not be labeled “Google Play Store.”
- Sign in with your Google account.
The first launch can take longer while Google Services Framework registers components. Do not assume the installation failed just because Play Store takes a while to appear.
Fix common installation problems
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| App not installed | Recheck the Android requirement, ARM versus ARM64 architecture, exact Fire model, and APK variant. An existing conflicting package can also cause this error. |
| APK cannot be opened or installation is blocked | Give the opening app—Silk or Files—permission under Install unknown apps, then open the APK again. |
| Play Store opens and immediately crashes | Google Play Services is commonly the mismatched package. Download a variant that matches the tablet’s architecture and Android base. |
| Checking info hangs or sign-in loops | Restart the tablet. If the problem continues, remove and add the Google account again under Settings → Accounts. |
| Downloads stay at Pending | Check Wi-Fi and automatic date/time, then clear the relevant Google app data as described below. |
Clear Google cache and data when downloads stay pending
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps & Notifications or App management.
- Open Google Play Store.
- Tap Storage, then Clear Cache and Clear Data.
- Repeat for Google Play Services.
- If necessary, repeat for Google Services Framework.
- Restart the tablet and try Play Store again.
If Google components appear to be installed but Play Store still fails, verify that all four packages are present and that their identifiers are correct:
- com.google.android.gsf.login
- com.google.android.gsf
- com.google.android.gms
- com.android.vending
What happens after a Fire OS update?
A substantial Fire OS update can invalidate a previously working combination. If Play Store stops working after an update, check the tablet’s Fire OS version again and reassess the Android-base and CPU-architecture requirements for Google Play Services and Play Store. Do not automatically install the newest available files.

Limitations of Google Play on Fire tablets
Sideloading Play Store does not turn a Fire tablet into an officially Google-certified Android device. Some apps may still report Device is not certified or refuse to install.

Apps that depend on Play Integrity or similar security checks, DRM validation, or Google services unavailable on Fire OS can remain unsupported. Banking, streaming, enterprise, and school-managed apps are among the categories most likely to be affected. Play Store installation is useful for access to compatible Android apps, but it does not guarantee that every Android app will work.
Remove Google Play later
A factory reset is not normally required. Open Settings → Apps, or Apps & Notifications → App management, and look for the installed Google components. Depending on the package, you may see Uninstall, Uninstall updates, or only Disable. Use the available removal option for each component. Reserve a factory reset for cases where normal app management cannot resolve the problem and you have backed up your data.

Do Amazon Fire tablets come with Google Play Store?
No. Fire tablets ship with Amazon Appstore and Fire OS. Google Play Store can be added by sideloading compatible APK files.
Can I install the newest Google Play Services APK?
Not safely by default. Google Play Services has multiple Android-base and architecture variants. Match the file to the tablet’s Fire OS version, Android base, exact model, and ARM or ARM64 ABI.

Why does my Fire tablet say App not installed?
The usual causes are an incompatible Android requirement, wrong CPU architecture, conflicting existing package, or incorrect APK variant. Recheck all four before trying another file.
Why is Play Store stuck on Pending?
Check Wi-Fi and automatic date/time, then clear cache and data for Google Play Store and Google Play Services under Settings → Apps & Notifications or App management. Google Services Framework may also need its data cleared.
Will Google Play make every Android app work on my Fire tablet?
No. Some apps require Google certification, Play Integrity checks, DRM, or Google services that Fire OS does not provide. Banking, streaming, enterprise, and school-managed apps may remain unavailable.
The Bottom Line
Install Google Account Manager, Google Services Framework, Google Play Services, and Google Play Store in that exact order, using APKs matched to the tablet’s model, Fire OS/Android base, and ARM architecture. Tap Done after each installation, restart only after all four are installed, and expect some certification-dependent apps to remain incompatible.
