Infor announced an expanded Industry AI architecture and the next evolution of Velocity Suite on October 6, 2026. The company is positioning the platform around industry-specific context, connections to existing systems, adaptable user experiences and governance. In a separate set of findings, an Infor-sponsored survey found that 68% of respondents said off-the-shelf AI does not adequately address their industry’s needs. That is a measure of respondents’ views—not an independent test proving generic AI fails or that Infor’s products will deliver particular results.

What Infor announced

Infor’s October 6, 2026 announcement presents Industry AI as an architecture built around four pillars. The descriptions below reflect Infor’s product claims; the announcement does not provide a side-by-side evaluation against competing platforms.

Precise Outcomes

Infor says its Industry AI agents draw on its CloudSuites, Industry Process Catalogs and industry-specific domain language models. The company also says its GenAI Knowledge Hub is generally available for customers to build custom agents.

Open & Connected

Infor describes the architecture as able to connect with non-Infor applications and customers’ existing orchestration and analytics tools. Infor IQ is presented as its semantic layer, with a catalog of more than 350 use cases, according to the announcement.

Easy to Use

Infor says Adaptive UX brings role-aware information into a single view. Customers can use Infor’s assistant or assistants they already use, according to the company.

Governed

The company describes human-approval workflows, permissions, audit trails, explainable AI logic and logging in its orchestration and platform layers. These are capabilities Infor says the architecture provides; the announcement does not independently assess how they perform in customer deployments.

What Velocity Suite includes

Infor positions Velocity Suite as a single package for the announced capabilities, tied to a customer’s Industry Process Catalog. The company says it includes:

  • Industry AI agents and Agentic Orchestrator
  • Process mining and automation
  • Prebuilt industry use cases and generative AI
  • Implementation expertise

Infor describes access as unlimited within “fair business use,” but the announcement gives neither a price nor a definition of that term. It also does not establish detailed availability by geography or customer tier.

What the survey says—and what it does not

Infor says 2,111 business decision-makers took part in the second wave of its Enterprise AI Adoption Impact Index. YouGov conducted the research on Infor’s behalf in August 2026 across seven markets: the UK (254 respondents), US (550), Singapore (260), Japan (266), France (260), Australia (263) and Germany (258). Infor says the first wave, in April 2026, surveyed 1,024 decision-makers across four markets.

Infor reports that 68% said off-the-shelf AI does not adequately address their industry’s needs. The question concerned whether generic AI solutions address specific regulatory, workflow and data requirements. The finding reflects respondents’ perceptions; it does not establish an objective measure of AI model quality. Infor says six of the seven markets had a clear majority expressing this view, but the announcement does not identify the exception.

Other figures Infor reports from the 2026 survey include:

Finding Reported result
Manufacturing respondents saying off-the-shelf AI does not fit their needs 73%
Distribution respondents saying off-the-shelf AI does not fit their needs 76%
Retail respondents saying off-the-shelf AI does not fit their needs 69%
Respondents expecting AI investment to increase over the next 12 months 59%
Respondents comfortable with autonomous agents fully executing critical business processes without human input at every step 54%
Respondents who prefer humans to make high-stakes decisions without any AI input 11%
Respondents naming data security, sovereignty or compliance as their single greatest barrier to advancing AI strategy 33%

On responsibility for AI, Infor reports that respondents assigned primary responsibility to CEO or executive leadership (23%), CIO or CTO (22%), an AI committee or governance group (15%) or department heads (10%). Another 15% said no one person had primary responsibility or that responsibility was unclear. Infor reports Chief AI Officer roles at 10% globally.

These figures should be read within the survey’s stated scope: business decision-makers in the seven named markets. Infor’s announcement does not detail sampling, weighting, respondent recruitment, exact question wording beyond a general description or margins of error. It therefore does not support broader claims about all businesses.

Infor’s performance figures are company-reported

Infor says customers have processed shipments up to 60% faster, saved up to 90% of time across procurement, supply chain, manufacturing and sales workflows, and reduced auditing costs tied to access management by up to 90%. These are company-reported maximum outcomes. The announcement does not supply study designs, sample sizes, baselines or independent verification for the specific figures, so they should not be treated as guaranteed results or as a direct forecast for a prospective customer.

How to assess the platform for your organization

The announcement provides a useful set of evaluation questions, but not a comparative scorecard or evidence that resolves them. Buyers considering Infor or another enterprise AI platform can test the claims against their own requirements:

  • Industry and workflow context: Ask which data, process definitions and domain knowledge ground an agent, and how that context is maintained as workflows change.
  • Connections: Confirm which non-Infor systems, orchestration tools and analytics tools can be connected in your specific environment.
  • User experience: Determine how role-aware views work in practice and whether staff can use their existing assistants as described.
  • Governance: Verify where human approvals can be required, how permissions and audit trails work, and what is logged and explainable.
  • Outcome evidence: For any claimed time, speed or cost improvement, ask for the baseline, measurement method, deployment context and customer-specific validation.

What remains unclear

The announcement does not disclose Velocity Suite pricing, define “fair business use,” or provide independent validation of the cited customer outcomes. It also does not offer a competitor-by-competitor comparison. Those details matter when translating a broad architecture announcement into a procurement decision.
