Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Identity and access management (IAM) is becoming a practical managed-services opportunity for channel partners: customers need stronger authentication, better visibility into suspicious access, and ongoing policy and workflow support. Dean Watson’s June 2, 2026, IT Pro feature makes that case, while offering no attributable statistic that quantifies a rise in attacks or the size of the opportunity.
How an identity attack can unfold
Watson describes social engineering—especially phishing and vishing—as a route to identity compromise. An attacker may impersonate internal IT by phone, using an employee’s work or personal number, and ask the person to reset credentials or re-enroll an account. A modified reset link can then help bypass controls that are not phishing-resistant.
With credentials in hand, an attacker may replay an MFA token to access SaaS resources and exfiltrate data for extortion. This is the feature’s description of an attack path, not a quantified account of how often it occurs or evidence that every MFA method is equally vulnerable.
The article also describes reconnaissance through public employee names, job titles, social posts, and predictable company email formats. Those details can help an attacker make an impersonation attempt more convincing; the source does not quantify their contribution to incidents.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What a managed IAM service should include
A robust service needs more than account setup. Watson’s recommended capabilities span authentication, policy, identity coverage, risk analysis, workflow, and continual maintenance:
- Strong authentication: MFA or passkeys using FIDO2. A FIDO2 security key is one possible hardware-token option; the article names no brands or models and does not establish device compatibility.
- Customizable identity policies: Configure access rules to suit each customer’s environment rather than treating every user and resource identically.
- Human and non-human identities: Cover employees as well as service identities and other systems that authenticate or access resources.
- Risk analysis: Assess context and suspicious behavior, including approaches using machine-learning or AI-powered analysis.
- Workflow orchestration: Connect identity-related processes so access and policy changes can be handled consistently.
- Ongoing review: Revisit configurations and service practices as threats and customer environments change.
Detect unusual access without relying on one signal
The feature points to environmental anomalies that can warrant investigation: impossible travel, changes in IP-based location, or a service identity becoming active at unusual hours. These are signals to evaluate, not proof on their own that an account has been compromised.

Risk-based authentication can combine those signals with approaches such as user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) and conditional access. A service provider can use context to decide when to require stronger authentication, aiming to identify suspicious sign-ins while avoiding unnecessary friction for ordinary activity. Watson discusses these methods alongside stronger authentication, but does not provide a vendor comparison or measured evidence that one approach is more effective than another.
How channel partners can deliver the service
Watson’s implementation advice is directed at partners building a repeatable offering. It is the author’s recommendation, not a universal standard.

- Review your own security first. Assess the partner’s internal environment before managing identity controls for customers.
- Standardize the platform stack. Where there are multiple vendor choices, reduce operational variation by selecting a consistent set of core platforms. The feature suggests two core identity platforms and names Microsoft Entra ID as a likely one; it does not establish that this number or choice fits every provider.
- Build a comprehensive onboarding blueprint. Define how identity services will be introduced, configured, and integrated so customer onboarding is positive and avoidable outages that could affect business continuity are limited.
- Make review part of delivery. Plan recurring checks and updates rather than treating identity configuration as a one-time deployment.
Where the opportunity—and its limits—lie
The service opportunity is in managing the work around identity: authentication choices, policy configuration, coverage of people and systems, risk review, orchestration, and ongoing updates. Microsoft Entra ID is one platform example in the feature, not a ranked recommendation or a complete product comparison.
The article does not establish partner-program availability, commissions, or commercial terms for any platform. Nor does it provide market sizing, an attributable numerical measure of attack growth, or a vendor efficacy study. Partners should assess platform fit against customer requirements—including phishing resistance, machine identity support, policy customization, risk features, workflow integration, onboarding effort, and operational support—rather than infer a ranking from the feature.
