Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →The hexagon keyboard is Typewise, a smartphone keyboard app—not a physical keyboard. The headline’s “cut my typos in half” describes one reviewer’s experience, not a result established for all users. Whether it works better for you depends on how the layout feels, how its corrections behave, and whether you’re willing to adapt to a different way of typing.
What is the hexagon keyboard?
Typewise is an alternative to Gboard for Android and iOS. It offers two layouts: a hexagonal layout designed for smartphone typing and a traditional layout. You can choose between them in the app, so trying Typewise does not require committing to hexagons.
Typewise support says the app is free to use, with premium features available as in-app purchases. The same support page lists more than 40 languages and says reported adaptation times range from 10 minutes to two weeks. Those are the vendor’s current statements; app availability and features can change. Check Typewise’s support information for current details.
Does Typewise really reduce typos?
The headline’s claim is a first-person result from a Yahoo-hosted syndicated review. The underlying article could not be retrieved, so the figure should be understood as that reviewer’s reported experience—not an independently checked measurement or a promise of what other people will see.

Typewise separately says that, after users acclimatize to its layout and gestures, typing is 33% faster overall and produces fewer typos. Its blog page does not provide enough detail about the study size, method, or independent validation to establish that result. Treat it as a company claim, not a general benchmark. Typewise’s blog presents the company’s claims.
In practical terms, the useful test is your own typing: try the layout in the conversations and apps you normally use, and judge whether it reduces errors without slowing you down or making corrections harder. A layout that suits one person’s thumbs may feel awkward to another.

Is Typewise better than Gboard?
There is no universal winner. Typewise changes the key layout; Gboard lets you adjust its appearance and typing behavior without requiring a switch to hexagonal keys. Compare the features you actually use rather than treating a single reported typo result as a verdict.
| What to compare | Typewise | Gboard |
|---|---|---|
| Layout | Hexagonal or traditional layout, according to Typewise support. | Gboard offers themes and other customization; its help page documents available settings. |
| Adjustment | Typewise support reports user adaptation times ranging from 10 minutes to two weeks. | No comparable adjustment-time figure is stated in the cited Google help pages. |
| Correction tools | Check how its suggestions and corrections work in your own typing. | Google documents suggestions and typo correction. Its Proofread feature is described as limited to US English. |
Google’s help pages explain how to change Gboard’s theme and key sounds or vibration, as well as manage suggestions and corrections. If your main frustration is appearance or correction behavior, it may be worth adjusting those settings before switching keyboards. See Gboard’s theme and customization instructions and Google’s instructions for suggestions and corrections.

- Split-Key Ergonomic Design: One-piece split layout separates keys into left and right zones to reduce wrist bending and support a natural hand position, helping minimize strain during long hours of typing.
- Long Key Travel & Tactile Feedback: Extended key travel delivers responsive, tactile feedback with audible confirmation, similar to brown mechanical switches. Built for durability with up to 20 million keystrokes.
- Old-School Curved Row Design: Stepped, curved key rows promote a natural typing posture and reduce fatigue during long sessions. Made from high-quality ABS with membrane switches and 4.2 mm key travel.
- Ergonomic Curved Keycaps: Curved keycaps with flatter tops and back edges fit fingertip contours for improved comfort and control. Available in black, beige, and white color options.
- Natural Learning Curve: Ergonomic shape may require a short adjustment period. Most users adapt within 1–2 weeks and experience improved comfort and reduced wrist pressure with continued use.
How to decide whether to switch
- Try the layout you are curious about. In Typewise, select the hexagonal layout or the traditional option. Test the hexagonal layout with one thumb and two thumbs, since comfort can differ between typing styles.
- Allow time to adjust. Typewise support reports a wide adaptation range—from 10 minutes to two weeks—so an initial burst of mistakes does not by itself settle whether the layout suits you.
- Check your own error rate and workflow. Notice whether you make fewer mistakes in everyday typing, whether autocorrection fixes or changes the right words, and whether the keyboard’s gestures and language support meet your needs.
- Compare against the Gboard setup you actually use. If themes, sounds, vibration, suggestions, or correction matter to you, check Gboard’s available settings before deciding that a different keyboard is necessary.
Also consider your privacy preferences when choosing any keyboard app. The cited product information establishes Typewise’s layouts, availability, and adaptation range; it does not establish a comparative privacy assessment.
