A tuition management SaaS can use a plain HTML frontend, but it is not a static application once it reads or writes account-specific data. Supabase can provide Postgres and authentication, while Vercel can deploy the web assets; the application still needs a sound data model and carefully configured access controls.

What this stack does—and what it does not do

“Plain HTML” describes how the interface is built, not the whole architecture. If a browser page retrieves or changes records belonging to a school, student, or staff member, the application also depends on a data service and rules that limit who can access each record.

Supabase provides a Postgres database for each project, with authentication and related services. Its documentation describes Row Level Security (RLS) as a database mechanism for controlling which rows users can access. Supabase Auth issues, validates, and refreshes JWTs, and its client SDKs support authentication requests and token persistence: Supabase Auth.

Vercel supports deployment through Git or its CLI and can serve static HTML, CSS, and JavaScript assets. Its documentation also describes SaaS dashboards as a supported application pattern, including authenticated pages served with Vercel Functions. Those are platform capabilities, not evidence that this particular application used Functions: Vercel frameworks and deployment, Vercel Functions, and Vercel deployments.

How browser access to tuition records needs to be secured

Use RLS and grants together

When a browser connects directly to Supabase, the database—not a hidden frontend screen—is the essential boundary for protecting exposed data. Supabase’s official guide states: “A table in an exposed schema without RLS is readable and writable by any role with a grant on it.” RLS policies determine row access, while database grants also affect whether a role can access a table. Supabase recommends enabling RLS on tables and setting appropriate policies in its production security checklist.

For a tuition product, that means designing policies around the actual relationships in the data: which institution a record belongs to, which users belong to that institution, and which actions each role may perform. A user interface that hides another school’s records is not a substitute for database policies that prevent access to them.

Keep privileged credentials out of the browser

Supabase says frontend applications may use a publishable key when exposed tables are protected by correctly configured RLS and least-privilege grants. Its secret and service-role keys bypass RLS and must never be exposed in frontend code. See Supabase API keys.

Any operation that requires a secret or elevated database privilege therefore belongs in a trusted server-side environment, not in an HTML page or browser JavaScript. Whether this build needs Vercel Functions—or another trusted server component—depends on its actual requirements; the platform’s support for Functions alone does not establish that the project uses them.

What this stack alone cannot tell you about the product

Platform documentation establishes what Supabase and Vercel can do; it does not establish which workflows a particular tuition SaaS implements. The available facts do not show whether this application manages student records, invoices, attendance, reminders, reporting, or tuition collection. They also do not establish that it is deployed for real institutions, what its schema or policies look like, or how it handles payment details.

Those distinctions matter. A system that stores tuition invoices is not necessarily a system that processes payments, and a demo is not evidence of production use. Any claim about supported workflows, live customers, payment-provider integrations, or results should be backed by details of the actual application rather than inferred from the stack.
