A small Instagram OSINT checker can only report information it can legitimately access; “public profile” does not mean private-account content is available. Meta’s documented Facebook Login API supports Instagram professional accounts linked to a Facebook Page, but it cannot access consumer Instagram accounts. The project’s specific inputs, outputs, data source, and reliability are not established here, so they should not be assumed from the title alone.
What this checker is—and what the title does not establish
This project is framed as a small checker for information visible on public Instagram profiles. That is a narrower and more defensible description than claiming it can uncover everything about an account. A profile being public does not grant access to private content, bypass privacy settings, or guarantee that every visible detail is available to a particular tool.
The project’s implementation details are not established: there is no confirmed feature list, input or output description, data source, tested account coverage, accuracy assessment, or test result. Those details must come from the actual implementation and documented tests, not from Meta’s API documentation or the word “OSINT.”
What Meta’s Instagram API can access
Meta documents its Instagram API with Facebook Login for professional Instagram accounts—Businesses and Creators—that are linked to a Facebook Page. Meta explicitly says this API cannot access consumer Instagram accounts. Its documented functions include managing a professional presence; retrieving and publishing media; managing and replying to comments; identifying media that mentions an account; finding hashtagged media; and accessing basic metadata and metrics about other professional accounts. Meta’s Instagram API documentation describes that scope.

These limits matter when describing a checker. The existence of an official API does not make it a general-purpose lookup service for any public Instagram profile. Nor does the documentation establish that this project uses the API. Its data source and access method need to be stated separately and accurately.
Public visibility is not permission to bypass privacy
Meta’s Safety Center encourages people to consider what they share and who can see it, and treats public information as information people choose to make public. A checker should therefore be described as observing information visible to it, subject to platform availability and access limits—not as a way to obtain private-account information. See Meta’s Safety Center.

Visibility can also depend on platform settings and access. A checker’s output should not be presented as a complete account record unless the project has evidence to support that claim. In particular, do not imply that public-profile inspection reveals content restricted to a private account.
What a useful project description should explain
To make the checker understandable and reproducible, its project documentation should answer these questions directly:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRank #3
- Inputs: What does a user provide—for example, a profile identifier or URL?
- Outputs: Which specific fields or findings does the checker return?
- Data source and access method: Does it use Meta’s official API or another method, and what permissions or account types does that method require?
- Coverage: Which account types and visibility settings were actually tested?
- Reliability: What test cases were run, what worked or failed, and what does the checker not claim to detect?
- Privacy and retention: What information, if any, does the project store, for how long, and how can a user remove it?
Without those details, it is possible to describe the project’s purpose and the platform’s documented API boundaries, but not to evaluate the checker’s capabilities or accuracy.

Meta provides tools for people to access, manage, download, or delete information they have provided. Instagram’s Activity Center includes content a person commented on, shared, or sent. These are user-facing account controls; they do not establish what this checker collects or stores. See Instagram Help Center information and account controls.
