HPE Private Cloud AI is an integrated enterprise AI platform, not a consumer cloud subscription or a standalone GPU. HPE’s current specifications list NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs in Developer, Small, and Large configurations, with GPU counts and deployment options varying by tier. The headline refers to HPE’s August 2025 announcement; the configuration details below reflect HPE’s QuickSpecs, whose revision history runs through July 6, 2026.
What HPE’s Blackwell announcement means
HPE Private Cloud AI combines compute, GPUs, storage, networking, software, and services in a managed enterprise platform. It is designed for on-premises deployment, with GreenLake management and either a traditional or GreenLake sales motion. HPE positions the platform for inference, AI agents and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), fine-tuning, visual AI, and physical AI. Those are vendor-described use cases, not independent performance findings.
The Blackwell GPU in the current specifications is the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition. It is one option within an integrated system configuration; support does not mean every tier uses Blackwell. HPE’s Private Cloud AI QuickSpecs distinguish Blackwell configurations from tiers based on NVIDIA H200 GPUs.
Which current configurations include Blackwell?
HPE lists four system tiers. The GPU counts and usable internal file/object storage shown below are HPE’s stated configuration figures; workload labels describe HPE’s positioning rather than a comparative performance ranking.

- PLEASE NOTE: Exporting an NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000 GPU outside the US requires strict adherence to the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and issuance of an export license from the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). Compliance and Know Your Customer (KYC) screening may be required as a condition of order acceptance. [NVIDIA Blackwell Streaming Multiprocessor] The new SM features increased processing throughput, and new neural shaders that integrate neural networks inside of programmable shaders | DLSS 4: Multi Frame Generation ensures ultra-smooth frame pacing for lifelike simulations.
- [Double-Flow-Through Design] The RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell features a double-flow-through cooling design, optimizing efficiency and airflow to sustain peak performance under 600W power loads. | [5th Gen Tensor Cores] Deliver up to 3X the performance of the previous generation and support for FP4 precision for faster AI model processing times with reduced memory usage, enabling local fine-tuning of LLMs and generative AI | [4th Gen Ray Tracing Cores] Double the ray-triangle intersection rate of the previous generation to create photoreal, physically accurate scenes and immersive 3D designs with RTX Mega Geometry, which enables up to 100X more ray-traced triangles.
- [PCIe Gen 5] Support for PCIe Gen 5 provides double the bandwidth of PCIe Gen 4, improving data-transfer speeds from CPU memory and unlocking faster performance for data-intensive tasks like AI, data science, and 3D modeling. | [GDDR7 Memory] With 96 GB of GPU memory and 1.8 TB ps bandwidth, it can tackle massive 3D and AI projects, fine-tune AI models locally, explore large-scale VR environments, and drive larger multi-app workflows.
- [DisplayPort 2.1] Achieve unparalleled visual clarity and performance, driving high resolution displays at up to 8K at 240 Hz and 16K at 60 Hz. Increased bandwidth enables seamless multi-monitor setups while HDR and higher color depth support ensures superior color accuracy for precision work, such as video editing, 3D design, and live broadcasting.
- [Universal MIG] Divide a single RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell into multiple isolated instances, each with dedicated resources, allowing for concurrent execution of multiple workloads, optimized GPU utilization, and secure isolation of different applications or users. | Tier | GPU configuration in HPE QuickSpecs | Usable internal file/object storage | Positioned workloads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Developer | 2 NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs | 22 TB | Development-oriented use |
| Small | 4 or 8 NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs | 62 TB | Visual computing |
| Medium | 8 NVIDIA H200 GPUs | 62 TB | Inference and RAG |
| Large | 16 NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs or 16 NVIDIA H200 GPUs | 124 TB | Inference, RAG, fine-tuning, visual AI, and physical AI |
The Medium tier is the notable exception: it is listed with H200 GPUs, not RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs. Buyers comparing tiers should look at GPU type as well as count; these specifications alone do not establish which configuration will perform better for a particular workload.
Expansion, air-gapping, and purchasing choices
Expansion capacity
HPE documents GPU expansion racks, including Blackwell options. Its workload and configuration material says Large systems can expand to as many as 64 GPUs through three expansion racks. HPE’s March 2026 announcement separately described network expansion racks intended to scale up to 128 GPUs, with July 2026 given as a planned availability date. A roadmap statement is not confirmation that a specific 128-GPU configuration is currently orderable; confirm the exact system, rack, and delivery timing with HPE.

Air-gapped deployments
QuickSpecs list air-gapped deployment options for Medium and Large configurations. HPE describes a disconnected deployment as removing exposure to external networks to protect sensitive data. Its March 2026 announcement said Private Cloud AI with air-gapped deployment and RTX PRO 6000 support across each configuration was available at that time. Since country, SKU, and order composition can affect availability, verify the configuration with HPE or an authorized reseller.
What to confirm before choosing a tier
- Workload and GPU: Match the task to the documented tier and GPU type. Blackwell is listed for Developer, Small, and Large; Medium lists H200.
- Storage and networking: Check the usable storage figure and the networking components in the specific proposal, rather than assuming all bundles are identical.
- Isolation: If the system must be disconnected from external networks, ask which air-gapped deployment option and software configuration apply to the selected tier.
- Expansion: Request confirmation of supported expansion racks, maximum GPU count for the proposed configuration, and whether planned capacity is orderable.
- Delivery and support: Verify local availability, lead time, installation, services, and ongoing support in the quote.
- Sales route: HPE Store lists enterprise bundle offerings and a custom quote request workflow; a quote or authorized enterprise reseller is the relevant purchase path for this specialized platform.
How this relates to HPE ProLiant servers
The August 2025 article also discussed two standalone HPE ProLiant options: the DL385 Gen11, described as supporting up to two RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs in a 2U chassis, and the DL380a Gen12, described as supporting up to eight in a 4U chassis. Those are server products, not alternate names for the integrated Private Cloud AI platform. A server may be relevant to a different deployment plan, but it does not by itself include the complete platform stack described here.

What the announcement does—and does not—establish
HPE’s June 24, 2025 announcement said HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers ranked number one in more than 23 AI tests. That is a vendor-reported server benchmark claim; it is not an independent result for Private Cloud AI or evidence that one of the platform’s configurations outperforms another. No independent performance validation is established here.
In the August 2025 announcement, HPE senior vice president Cheri Williams described the collaboration as aimed at enterprise generative, agentic, and physical AI workloads. That statement captures HPE’s positioning, rather than a measured outcome. For a current buying decision, the useful evidence is the exact configuration, deployment design, and support commitment in the proposal.
