HP Instant Ink charges by the number of pages in your monthly plan, not by how much ink each page uses. In the United States, HP’s pages checked on September 28, 2026 showed a discrepancy in the entry plan: its FAQ listed $0.99 per month for 15 pages, while its plan page listed $0.99 for 10 pages. Both showed $24.99 per month for 700 pages. Check the live offer and its terms before enrolling.
How much is HP Instant Ink?
HP’s U.S. FAQ and plan listing showed these figures when checked on September 28, 2026. The pages do not agree on the entry-level allowance, so treat these as displayed offers, not a definitive or permanent rate card.
| HP page | Displayed monthly price | Displayed page allowance |
|---|---|---|
| HP Instant Ink FAQ | $0.99 per month | 15 pages |
| HP Instant Ink Plans | $0.99 per month | 10 pages |
| Both pages | $24.99 per month | 700 pages |
Plan prices and allowances can change. Confirm the selected plan, page allowance, and checkout price for your market before signing up; the figures above are from HP’s U.S. pages, not a promise that the same offer is available everywhere.
How the deal works
Instant Ink is a page-based subscription. Your monthly fee buys an allowance of pages rather than a set quantity of ink. HP says color and black-and-white pages count alike on an ink plan, so a color page does not use a larger page allowance than a black page.

HP says the printer reports when subscription supplies are running low, and HP sends replacements as needed. Cartridges therefore do not necessarily arrive every month. HP’s U.S. FAQ says its plans include ink, shipping, and prepaid recycling. The FAQ describes unused pages rolling over up to a plan-dependent cap; extra pages are available in sets, whose size and price vary. Check the terms for the specific plan to see its rollover limit and extra-page charges.
Is HP Instant Ink a good deal for you?
There is no reliable universal savings figure: the result depends on how much you print, your color use, whether you exceed the allowance, and what compatible cartridges cost for your printer. Compare a representative period using your own numbers rather than choosing by the lowest monthly fee.

- THE LAST PRINTER YOU'LL EVER NEED. Enjoy years of refillable, cartridge-free printing.
- Estimate how many pages you print in a typical month, including busier months.
- Note your color and black-and-white mix. On an ink plan, HP says both page types count the same.
- Record the plan’s monthly fee and page allowance, plus its rollover cap and the price and size of extra-page sets.
- Check the cost of the compatible Original HP Standard or XL cartridges you would otherwise buy for your printer, and how often you replace them.
- Compare the subscription and cartridge costs over the same representative period. Include the value to you of automatic supply delivery and prepaid recycling, but do not treat convenience as guaranteed savings.
HP’s pages include a promotional “save up to 50%” claim, but that figure does not establish what an individual customer will save. Your printer model, cartridge prices, and usage are needed for a meaningful break-even comparison.
Check printer compatibility before subscribing
Instant Ink is available only for eligible, compatible HP printers. Confirm your exact printer model on HP’s current eligibility information before enrolling; do not assume that every HP printer qualifies.

What happens if you cancel HP Instant Ink?

To continue printing, HP says to use compatible Original HP Standard or XL cartridges for your printer. Check the cartridge number against the exact printer model before buying.
