For a movie-only MCU marathon in story order, start with Captain America: The First Avenger and follow the list below. Story order means the order events happen in the MCU, not the order the films were released. This sequence follows Hulu’s canon timeline guide dated August 22, 2025, with clearly marked editorial placements where that guide omits films.
Marvel movies in chronological story order
This is a film-only sequence: TV series and specials that appear in the fuller MCU timeline are left out. Hulu’s August 22, 2025 timeline supplies the main order, but it omits Spider-Man: No Way Home and does not place Thunderbolts* in its story-order list. The two editorial placements are identified below.

Why the first few films are unusual
The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes early
Hulu places The Fantastic Four: First Steps third, after Captain Marvel. Disney describes the film’s setting as a “1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world.” Its early position is therefore a setting-based, multiverse-era exception, not a conventional origin-era chapter in the main MCU sequence. Hulu places this film after Loki season 2 and What If…? season 2, and before later series entries and Captain America: Brave New World. With series removed from this list, the film remains in that same late position.

Story order or release order?
Hulu describes release date and canon timeline as two ways to watch. Story order arranges events by when they happen within the MCU; release order preserves how audiences first encountered the films. Hulu calls release order the popular, easier route for following character arcs, world-building, and connections. If those reveals and evolving connections matter more to you than in-universe chronology, choose release order instead. Hulu’s guide to Marvel movies in order.
What this movie-only list leaves out
The fuller MCU chronology interleaves series such as WandaVision, Loki, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, along with specials including Werewolf By Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Leave the movie list as-is for a film marathon; for continuity across films, series, and specials, consult the current MCU timeline in Disney+ where available. The consulted Hulu chronology is dated August 22, 2025, so it should not be treated as a definitive, exhaustive October 2026 list. Streaming catalogs and title availability also vary by territory and can change.
