To watch NRL live abroad, check whether your destination is eligible for Watch NRL, the league’s official international streaming service. If you’re watching a different competition—such as Super League or the Rugby League World Cup—check that event’s official broadcaster for the country you’ll be in. Rugby league has no single streaming service that carries every competition worldwide.
Start with the competition and your destination
Broadcast rights depend on both what you want to watch and where you’ll be. NRL season matches, NRLW, State of Origin, Super League and international tournaments can have different rights holders. Before traveling, identify the specific competition or event, then look up its official broadcaster for your destination.
- Identify the event. Confirm whether you want NRL, NRLW, State of Origin, Super League or a particular tournament. Access to NRL does not establish access to other competitions.
- Check the destination country. Use the NRL international broadcaster directory for NRL, or the event organizer’s announcement for a tournament. Check the current listing rather than assuming a broadcaster carries every match.
- Compare match coverage. A local television partner may show only selected weekly fixtures, while an international streaming service may offer different coverage. Confirm which matches are included.
- Check access and subscription terms before paying. Verify territory eligibility, plan duration, auto-renewal, and whether live, replay or offline viewing is available for the event you want.
Watching NRL abroad with Watch NRL
For eligible destinations, Watch NRL is the official international NRL streaming service. Its service page lists live and on-demand NRL matches outside Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands, subject to additional territorial restrictions. Check the official Watch NRL page for your exact destination before departure.

Watch NRL says it can be purchased from inside or outside Australia, but its content is only viewable outside Australia, New Zealand and a listed set of Pacific nations. It also identifies sanctioned jurisdictions where the service cannot be accessed, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, Belarus, Russia, Sudan, South Sudan, Myanmar, Venezuela and specified areas of Ukraine. These restrictions can change. If the service is unavailable where you are, use the broadcaster authorized for that destination rather than trying to bypass territorial limits.

When checked on 3 October 2026, the Watch NRL service page displayed these AUD prices. They are live-page prices, not guaranteed future rates; confirm the amount and terms at checkout.

The service page also lists shorter weekly or monthly options as possibilities for a short trip, and says subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. The listed prices above do not establish the cost of those shorter plans. Check current local payment terms, the plan’s coverage period and how to cancel before subscribing.

Devices, internet and offline viewing
Watch NRL requires an active subscription, a compatible device and a strong internet connection. Its page lists viewing on phones, tablets, computers and TVs, with Chromecast, AirPlay and the Apple TV app among the TV options. It also says matches and shows can be downloaded for offline viewing. Chromecast is only one optional way to cast to a television; you do not need it to watch on a phone, tablet or computer.
When a local broadcaster may be the better route
The NRL’s international directory lists territory-specific partners, including ESPN Africa in Sub-Saharan Africa, Fox Sports US in the United States, Roger Sports Net in Canada, Premier Sports Asia in numerous Asian territories, Sky Sports in the UK, ESPN in the Netherlands, beIN Sports France in France, and SportDigital in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Listings can cover selected regular-season fixtures rather than every match. Check the destination’s current entry and the schedule for the match you want.

A local rights holder may be the authorized option where Watch NRL is unavailable, or may carry a particular event under separate rights. Confirm that the broadcaster serves your destination and has the competition and match in its schedule; a listing for one country does not establish availability elsewhere.

World Cup rights illustrate why NRL access should not be treated as a universal rugby league pass. International Rugby League (IRL) announced different Premier Sports arrangements for particular territories. These announcements describe those territories only, not a complete worldwide broadcast map.

UK and Ireland
In its 18 August 2026 announcement, IRL said Premier Sports had exclusive rights in the UK and Ireland. The announcement said it would show all 18 men’s matches live, plus all England matches in the women’s and wheelchair tournaments and those tournaments’ semi-finals and finals. It noted that additional matches could be shown subject to scheduling.
Canada and South-East Asia
In its 28 July 2026 announcement, IRL said Premier Sports held rights in Canada and 20 South-East Asian countries. It named Premier Sports Asia in South-East Asia and a dedicated rugby streaming service launched at the start of 2026 in Canada. The announcement said up to 53 matches, including all 18 men’s fixtures, would be shown in each region.
IRL described the 2026 tournament as 53 matches across men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions, kicking off in Sydney on 15 October. Its announcements for these territories do not establish who carries the event in other countries; check the organizer’s current announcements or the destination’s authorized broadcaster.
Travel viewing checklist
- Confirm the competition, event and match date.
- Check the official rights listing for the country where you’ll be watching.
- Verify whether coverage includes the match live, or only selected fixtures, replays or particular tournament teams.
- For Watch NRL, confirm that your destination is eligible and that the plan fits your trip; check auto-renewal and cancellation terms.
- Test your device and connection before match time. If you expect limited connectivity, check whether the event can be downloaded for offline viewing.
- If the service is restricted in your destination, use its authorized local broadcaster.
Why future NRL rights news does not answer today’s travel question
The NRL announced a media-rights deal on 7 July 2026 valued at AUD $5.3 billion over seven years, with the deal commencing in 2028. That future-cycle announcement does not establish current 2026 access, prices or travel availability. For a trip, rely on the current service terms and the broadcaster listing for your destination.
