How to Verify Apex Legends Files in Steam

To verify Apex Legends in Steam, open the game’s Properties → Installed Files and select Verify integrity of game files. Steam checks the installation and may take several minutes to finish.

Verify Apex Legends files in Steam

Restart your computer, then launch Steam.
Open Library. Right-click Apex Legends in the game list, or open its Library page and select the gear icon.
Choose Properties.
Select Installed Files, then click Verify integrity of game files.
Wait for Steam to complete the check. Steam says verification may take several minutes.

Steam’s menu labels can change with client updates, so follow the equivalent labels shown in your current Steam client if they differ slightly.

What a failed-file notice means

Steam says one or more files may fail verification, and that this is normal for most Steam games. Some may be local configuration files that Steam should not replace, so a failed-file notice alone does not prove that the installation is still broken.

When to run verification

Steam recommends verifying game files as a troubleshooting step for installation or update problems. It can also be useful when Apex Legends has missing content or launch problems, but verification does not establish the cause of an issue.

If Apex Legends still will not launch

Steam’s general troubleshooting guidance for persistent launch issues includes updating the operating system and drivers, disabling nonessential software, and checking that the system meets the game’s requirements. These are broad troubleshooting steps, not a diagnosis of a particular Apex Legends installation. If the problem continues, Steam recommends contacting the game’s developer for in-depth help.

Steam’s Apex Legends listing identifies the game as free-to-play and states that playing requires an EA account linked to a Steam account.
