Microsoft’s Snapchat Lens instructions describe two routes: choose a Lens before joining through Video Effects > More Video Effects > Snapchat, or select one during a meeting through More actions > Video Effects. Those Snapchat-specific steps were published in April 2023, so they do not confirm that Snapchat Lenses are still available in every current Teams client or organization. Microsoft’s current support page explains general Teams filters but does not name Snapchat.
Try a Snapchat Lens before joining a Teams meeting
Microsoft’s April 2023 launch instructions gave this pre-meeting path. The labels may differ or Snapchat may not appear in your current Teams client.
- Select Video Effects.
- Select More Video Effects.
- In the pane, look under Filters for Snapchat.
- Select a Lens, then select Join now.
These are launch-era directions, not confirmation of current availability. See Microsoft’s April 10, 2023 announcement.
Choose or preview a Lens after joining

- Select Video Effects.
- Under Filters, choose Snapchat and select a Lens.
- Select Preview to inspect the Lens before others see it, or Apply to use it.
As Microsoft author Jen Bradley put it in the launch-era instructions, select “Preview” to see the Lens without others viewing it yet, or “Apply” to turn it on. The present-day menu may differ.
What to do if Snapchat is not in the menu
First, distinguish a missing Snapchat option from the general Teams filter feature. Microsoft’s current support instructions document filters without naming Snapchat, so their presence does not establish that Snapchat Lenses remain available.

- Check Effects and avatars before joining, or open More actions > Video effects and settings during a meeting. These are Microsoft’s current general filter paths.
- If another filter appears, you can preview it and choose Apply and turn on video. To clear a filter, choose None > Apply.
- If Snapchat specifically is missing, ask your organization’s Teams administrator whether filter apps are available. Microsoft said administrators could control filter-app availability at launch in 2023; that historical statement does not establish current policy or behavior.
For current general controls, see Microsoft Support: Use filters in Microsoft Teams meetings.
Consent, privacy, and the Snap Camera distinction
Microsoft’s current general filter guidance says first-time use of a selected filter may prompt you to add its app to the meeting and grant consent. Review the app’s information and privacy links before accepting. Microsoft says the custom filters app does not collect or process biometric data or data that identifies the user; that statement should not be treated as a Snapchat-specific privacy notice.

At launch, Microsoft also said users had to consent to video-feed access for the Snapchat integration. The company described the feature as a direct Teams integration using Snap’s Camera Kit, with no extra download required. Snap Camera is a separate subject in Snapchat Support’s Snap Camera guidance; the cited sources do not establish it as necessary or as a currently supported workaround for Teams.

Microsoft announced a launch collection of 20+ Snapchat Lenses on April 10, 2023. That is a historical launch count, not a current catalog figure. The announcement described availability at launch for Teams for Work on desktop and Mac, with web, mobile, and education to follow, and said the feature was then limited to “classic” Teams with new Teams availability planned by year-end. These were rollout notes from 2023, not reliable statements of today’s restrictions.
