To change your skin in Lunar Client while you are in a world or server, press Right Shift and click the shirt icon to open the Cosmetic Locker. Use the skin changer there and follow the labels in your installed version; Lunar Client’s current guide confirms the feature and preview backgrounds, but does not spell out every import or apply control.
Open the Cosmetic Locker
- While in a world or server, press Right Shift to open the Lunar Client menu.
- Click the shirt icon to open the Cosmetic Locker.
- Use the skin changer in the locker and follow the on-screen labels to change your skin.
Lunar Client says its Cosmetic Locker integrates skin changing, so you can change your skin without leaving your current server or world. The getting-started guide also lists the skin changer among the client’s features.
Preview the skin
The updated skin changer can preview your skin against these backgrounds:

If other players still see your old skin
Lunar Client notes that other players may not see your new skin instantly and may need to relog. Ask them to disconnect and reconnect, then check again. The documentation does not specify which server, version, or account situations affect how quickly a change appears.

Using the Minecraft Java Launcher instead
If you want to change your skin through Minecraft’s official Java Launcher rather than Lunar Client, Minecraft documents a separate workflow. This is a launcher fallback, not a description of the controls in Lunar Client’s Cosmetic Locker.
- Open the Minecraft Launcher, select Java Edition, and open the Skins tab.
- Choose New Skin and select a flat, unwrapped PNG skin file.
- Name the skin and choose the Classic/Wide or Slim model to match the skin.
- Browse to the file, upload it, then select Save and Use.
The Classic model has Steve-shaped arms; the Slim model has thinner Alex-shaped arms. Use Minecraft’s model choice that matches the skin file.

Accounts and optional cosmetics
Lunar Client’s getting-started guide says users sign in with a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition or has an active Xbox Game Pass subscription; it also says legacy Mojang accounts are no longer accepted. Lunar Client’s FAQ describes the client as free and lists store cosmetics and Lunar+ separately. The cited guidance does not say that buying cosmetics or Lunar+ is required to use the skin changer.
Get help if the locker is not working
The current skin-changer guide documents the relog issue but does not provide a troubleshooting procedure for URL imports, file errors, or other skin-server problems. If the locker is unavailable or does not behave as expected, consult Lunar Client’s support channels, such as its support tickets or Discord, rather than relying on steps from older interface guides.

Does Lunar Client document the exact skin import controls?
The current official guide confirms that the locker includes skin changing, but does not textually enumerate every import or apply control. Follow the labels shown in your installed version.
Can I use the Minecraft Launcher to change my Java skin?
Yes. Minecraft’s official Java Launcher guide describes importing an unwrapped PNG, choosing the Classic/Wide or Slim model, and selecting Save and Use. This is separate from Lunar Client’s in-game workflow.
