To use Bluetooth headphones with a Samsung TV, first check Settings > Sound > Sound Output for Bluetooth Speaker List. If it appears, put the headphones in pairing mode, select them in the list, and choose Pair and Connect. Menu labels and feature availability vary by TV model, software, and region, so use your model’s manual if the path differs.
Check whether your Samsung TV supports Bluetooth headphones
Open Settings > Sound > Sound Output and look for Bluetooth Speaker List. Samsung says that this option indicates Bluetooth support. Its absence does not by itself identify which alternatives your TV supports; check the model’s manual and inspect the actual ports before choosing another connection method. Pair Bluetooth headphones with the TV
- Put the headphones into Bluetooth pairing or discoverable mode. The method differs by headphone model; consult its manual if needed.
- On the TV, open the Bluetooth audio-device list. On many recent models, the path is Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List.
- Select your headphones, then choose Pair and Connect when prompted.
Samsung’s US general route is Menu > Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List, but it notes that pairing varies by model. Samsung Australia lists these year-based menu paths for Australian products; they may differ in other regions:
- 2023–2026: Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List.
- 2022: Menu > Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List.
- 2018–2021: Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Bluetooth Speaker List.
- 2017: Settings > Sound > Sound Output > Speaker List.
- 2016: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Wireless Speaker Manager > Bluetooth Audio Devices.
- 2015: Menu > Sound > Speaker Settings > Bluetooth Headphones.
These paths come from Samsung Australia’s headphone instructions, which state that their information applies to Australian products. For another country or a model whose menus have changed, check the TV manual or the local Samsung support instructions.

If Bluetooth headphones do not appear or connect
- Confirm that the headphones are actually in pairing mode, then scan or refresh the TV’s device list. Samsung Australia also recommends moving the headphones closer to the TV while scanning.
- Some headphones made exclusively for mobile devices may not pair with a TV.
- Bluetooth audio can have lip-sync errors. The connection may also drop if the headphones are too far away; walls, corners, furniture, and radio interference can affect the signal.
- Samsung Australia says Bluetooth audio cannot be used at the same time as Wi-Fi Speaker Surround Setup (also called Surround) or TV SoundConnect. This is regional guidance, so verify the limitation for your model.

If your TV does not have a Bluetooth option
A Bluetooth audio adapter may work if the TV has an audio output that matches the adapter’s input. Samsung identifies a 3.5 mm audio port and standard left/right AUX ports (red and white) as possible connections. Check the TV’s actual ports and the adapter’s stated input before buying; Samsung’s guidance does not establish compatibility for any particular adapter, range, codec, or latency.

Samsung describes an adapter connection as an option in its Bluetooth-device guide. For TVs with an optical output, Samsung also documents connecting an optical cable from DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) to an external device’s optical input and selecting Optical under Sound Output. An optical cable alone is not a headphone connection. If using an optical-input Bluetooth transmitter, verify that its input and supported audio format match the TV and headphones. Two Bluetooth audio devices
Samsung US describes Multi Connect on newer TVs: after pairing a second Bluetooth audio device, select Multi Connect to output audio to both devices. Samsung also notes that on some TVs multiple Bluetooth devices can be paired but only one can output sound. Do not assume Multi Connect is available on every Samsung TV; check the model’s settings and manual. Samsung US explains its model-dependent behavior.

Bluetooth headphones and TV speakers together
Samsung India describes Multi-output Audio for supported TVs, allowing Bluetooth headphones and the TV speakers to play at the same time. The feature can let a hard-of-hearing viewer adjust headphone volume without changing speaker volume for others.
