The host needs an account and an internet-connected computer; players need internet-connected devices.
What Blooket’s free plan includes
Blooket’s Help Center says, “All of our essential features are free!” It lists unlimited question sets and a hosted-game limit of 60 people for free accounts. The same FAQ lists a 300-person limit for Plus members, except in Racing and team modes. These are stated product limits, not guarantees that every mode or feature is available on every account. Check Blooket’s current free-plan FAQ for the latest terms.
Blooket describes a workflow of selecting a question set, choosing a game mode, playing live or asynchronously, and reviewing reports. The free-plan FAQ does not specify that every mode, report, or account feature is included at no cost. If you need a particular mode or homework feature, confirm its availability for your account before planning the activity.
What you need before hosting
- Host: A Blooket account, a computer, and an internet connection.
- Players: An internet-connected device for each participant. Students do not need to create accounts to join a live game.
- Question set: A set from Discover or one you have created.
- For in-person play: A shared display or projector is useful for showing the host lobby, but it is a presentation aid, not a paid-plan requirement.

How to host a free Blooket game
- Sign in: The teacher or host signs in to a Blooket account on a computer.
- Choose a question set: Open My Sets to use a set you own, or Discover to find a public set. Preview it and select Show Answers to check that the questions and answers are accurate.
- Select a mode: Choose Host for the set, then pick a live mode suited to your activity. Review the mode description, recommended player count, end condition, and available settings. Some modes may be limited by account type or support only Solo or Homework play.
- Open the lobby: Select Host Now. Show the lobby on a classroom display, or share the host screen through your virtual-meeting platform.
- Invite players: Have students go to play.blooket.com and enter the Game ID, scan the QR code, or open the host’s join link. Players choose or receive a name and select a Blook in the lobby.
- Start when ready: Once the participants have joined, start the game from the host screen.
Choose the right way to play
Public set or teacher-created set
A public set can save preparation time. A set you create gives you more control over accuracy and fit with your lesson. Whichever you choose, preview the questions and answers before hosting.
Live game or asynchronous practice
A live game puts the class in a shared session; asynchronous play lets students work on their own schedule. Blooket describes both options, but the available modes and homework features can vary. Check the mode details for your account rather than assuming every option is included in the free tier.

Do students need accounts or special devices?
No Blooket account is required for students to join a live game by Game ID, QR code, or link, according to the student-account FAQ. The teacher hosting the game does need an account. Students who make accounts can access additional features, including unlocking Blooks, tracking stats, and playing solo; those features are optional for joining a hosted game.
Each player needs an internet-connected device. The host guide calls for a computer and internet connection for the host. A projector or large screen makes it easier for an in-person group to see the lobby, but students join on their own devices.

School, privacy, and terms considerations
Blooket’s Terms of Service, last updated January 14, 2026, distinguishes free and paid plans and says free services are for non-commercial purposes; commercial use of a free account requires Blooket’s express written consent. The terms also assign educational institutions and instructors responsibility for reviewing the agreement and obtaining applicable parent, guardian, or eligible-student consent when required. Follow your school’s policy and review Blooket’s current terms and privacy documents before using the service with students. This is a practical summary, not legal advice.
