Start by checking for an EID at Settings > About phone > EID. If there is no EID, HONOR says the phone does not support eSIM.
Check whether your exact phone supports eSIM
- Identify the exact variant. Find the full model and country of origin from the phone’s About phone screen, its packaging, or the seller’s documentation. A family name alone is not enough to establish compatibility.
- Look for an EID. On the phone, open Settings > About phone > EID. HONOR’s eSIM support article says that if EID information is absent, the phone does not support eSIM.
- Check HONOR’s model list as a reference. HONOR Global’s page, last updated May 7, 2026, lists these families: Magic4 Pro, Magic5 Pro, Magic6 Pro, Magic7 Pro, Magic8 Pro; Magic Vs, Magic V2, Magic V3, Magic V5; HONOR 90, 200, 200 Pro, 400, 400 Pro, 600, 600 Pro; Magic7 Lite and Magic8 Lite; 400 Lite and 600 Lite; X8c, X9c, and X9d. HONOR warns, “Depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed above.” See HONOR Global’s eSIM page.
The list is a starting point, not a guarantee for every regional variant. HONOR India’s phone comparison page, for example, describes a dual-SIM model whose SIM 2 can be configured as an eSIM or nano SIM, while noting that availability depends on country and carrier. That regional specification should not be generalized to every version of a model.
Confirm that your carrier will activate the imported variant
Having an EID and a model family listed by HONOR does not establish that a particular carrier will activate the phone. Contact the carrier in the country where you plan to use it and ask specifically whether it accepts eSIM activation for your phone’s exact model, regional variant, and country of origin. Provide the EID if requested. HONOR says eSIM availability varies by country, carrier, and device.
Ask the carrier to confirm the device’s eligibility before purchasing or transferring a plan. It can also tell you which activation method it supports and whether your account or plan has any requirements. A general carrier eSIM list may not confirm support for every imported variant.

Get the carrier’s activation details and add the eSIM
Once the carrier confirms eligibility, obtain its plan and the activation information it provides. Depending on the carrier, this may be a QR code to scan, manual activation details or a plan pre-assigned to your device. HONOR describes these options on its eSIM guidance page.
- On the HONOR phone, open Settings > Mobile network > SIM management > Add eSIM.
- Follow the on-screen prompts and use the carrier’s QR code, manual details, or pre-assigned plan, as applicable.
- Complete any remaining activation steps the carrier requires and check with it if service does not start.
Check SIM-slot and billing details
HONOR’s support article says only one eSIM can be used at a time. On a dual-SIM phone, an existing physical SIM in SIM 2 may need to be disabled before adding an eSIM. The exact configuration can depend on the phone variant, so check the instructions for your model and confirm with the carrier if needed.

Disabling an eSIM does not stop its monthly fee. Contact the carrier to change or cancel the plan; switching off the profile on the phone is not a billing cancellation.

If eSIM setup fails
- No EID appears: HONOR says the phone does not support eSIM. A generic accessory cannot add eSIM capability to unsupported phone hardware.
- The carrier rejects the device: Ask it to check eligibility against the exact model and regional variant, rather than only the model-family name.
- The profile will not install: Have the carrier verify the eSIM profile, activation method, and device eligibility. Recheck that the device’s country-of-origin variant supports eSIM.
- You cannot add the eSIM while using a physical SIM: Check whether SIM 2 must be disabled on your dual-SIM variant, and ask the carrier about any plan or account issue that could block activation.
