You can use AirPods with an Android phone as Bluetooth headphones for audio and calls, and pair those same earbuds separately with a Mac. Siri and Apple’s automatic switching between supported Apple devices do not extend to Android. An Apple Watch is different: Apple’s standard setup requires an iPhone, so an Android phone cannot set up or manage the watch.
What works across Android, AirPods, Apple Watch, and Mac

For Mac-to-Android tasks such as syncing notes, calendars, browser data, or files, use cross-platform apps or cloud services. Apple’s Continuity and Handoff features are designed to work between compatible Apple devices using the same Apple Account, not to turn an Android phone and Mac into a Continuity pair. (Apple Support: Use Continuity to work across Apple devices; Apple Support: Use Handoff to continue tasks on your other Apple devices)
How to pair AirPods with an Android phone
The pairing control depends on the AirPods model, so identify the generation before you begin. Apple’s Android instructions use Settings > Connections > Bluetooth; on other Android phones, the menu may be called simply Settings > Bluetooth or have slightly different wording.

On your Android phone, open Bluetooth settings and turn Bluetooth on.

Put the AirPods in their case and open the lid.

Put the AirPods into pairing mode using the control for your model:

AirPods 1, 2, or 3, and AirPods Pro 1 or 2: Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about five seconds, or until the status light flashes white.

AirPods 4 or AirPods Pro 3: With the case open, double-tap the front of the case until the status light flashes white.

AirPods Max: Press and hold the listening mode button until the status light flashes white.

In the Android phone’s list of available Bluetooth devices, tap your AirPods and complete any on-screen prompt.
Once connected, you can use the AirPods for Bluetooth audio and calls. Siri is not available on Android. Pairing alone does not establish Apple-only features such as Apple’s automatic switching or full AirPods settings control on Android.

How to connect the same AirPods to a Mac
You can pair the earbuds separately with a Mac and an Android phone. If they are not already connected automatically, use the Mac’s Bluetooth settings:

On the Mac, open Apple menu > System Settings > Bluetooth and make sure Bluetooth is on.

Put the AirPods into pairing mode using the button or gesture for their generation, as described above.

When the AirPods appear among nearby Bluetooth devices, select them to connect.
If the AirPods were set up with an iPhone and the Mac uses the same Apple Account, Apple says they should connect automatically in supported circumstances. For switching among Apple devices, Apple’s documented requirements include supported devices signed in to the same Apple Account with two-factor authentication; this is not a promise of seamless switching to or from Android.

Apple’s setup process pairs an Apple Watch with an iPhone through the Apple Watch app. An Android phone is not a supported replacement, so owning a Mac and AirPods does not remove the iPhone requirement. The compatible iPhone and iOS versions depend on the Watch generation: Apple currently lists iPhone 11 or later with iOS 26 or later for Apple Watch Ultra 3, Series 11, and SE 3. Do not apply those requirements to older Watch models; check the setup requirements for the specific generation.

Family Setup is a limited exception, not Android pairing
Apple Watch For Your Kids (formerly Family Setup) can let a family member use an eligible cellular Apple Watch without having their own iPhone. An organizer still needs a supported iPhone to set up and manage the watch, and Apple notes that features requiring a companion iPhone are unavailable. Eligibility and availability vary by location, model, and software. This route does not let an Android owner pair their own watch to Android. (Apple Support: Set up Apple Watch for a family member)
Choosing how to handle the mixed-device setup

Keep using AirPods you already own: Pair them to Android and Mac separately, then select the active Bluetooth audio device when changing between them. This works for audio and calls, but Android does not gain Siri or Apple’s Apple-device switching behavior.

Prioritize seamless switching or Android controls: Consider a Bluetooth headset designed for the features you need across your devices. The Apple support guidance establishes AirPods’ Bluetooth baseline, but does not rank alternative brands.

Want an Apple Watch while using Android: Plan on access to an organizer’s iPhone for the limited Family Setup route, or use an iPhone for standard setup. Without that iPhone-based setup, the Watch cannot be configured through Android.
