Does Alexa+ work on every Fire TV Stick?
No. Amazon says Alexa+ is included on compatible Fire TV devices, including current-generation Fire TV Sticks, for U.S. customers. Its announcement does not list every compatible Stick generation. If you have an older model, check Amazon’s current compatibility information and make sure the device software is up to date before assuming Alexa+ is available. For eligible Fire TV devices, Amazon says the upgrade arrives automatically. You do not need to install a separate Alexa+ app or activate a subscription to use the included Fire TV features.
How to use Alexa+ with the Fire TV Stick remote
- Connect your compatible Fire TV Stick to the internet. Alexa voice control requires a working connection.
- Press and hold the Alexa button on the remote. While holding it, say what you want. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick guide describes this basic voice-control method: How to use Amazon Fire TV Stick.
- Describe the content or task conversationally. You can name a title, but you can also ask by genre, mood, actor, or story type. For example, Amazon suggests, “Recommend me a top-rated thriller.”
- Refine the answer in the same conversation. Follow up with a request such as “something newer” rather than starting over with a precise title search.
Traditional commands still work as examples of Fire TV voice requests: “Alexa, launch Prime Video” or “Alexa, show me popular comedies.”

What Alexa+ can do on Fire TV
Find and refine films or shows
Ask for recommendations using descriptive criteria, such as a genre, mood, favorite actor, or qualities of a story. Amazon says Alexa+ can use context and customer preferences to make recommendations, and you can narrow the results with follow-up questions. What is available to watch will depend on the services and titles accessible to you.
Ask about what you are watching
Amazon describes asking a question about an actor while watching, then following up with a related question—for example, asking how many movies the actor has appeared in and whether the actor is still on tour. These are examples of Alexa+ requests, not a guarantee that every question will have an answer.

Move Prime Video playback to another Fire TV
If you have another Fire TV in your home, Amazon says you can ask Alexa+ to move a current Prime Video show to it. Its example request is, “Alexa, move this show to the Fire TV in my bedroom.”
Control compatible smart-home devices
You can ask for an action such as dimming compatible lights for movie night or locking a compatible smart lock. The device must be compatible and linked to Alexa, with any required permissions in place. Amazon’s example for a lock is, “Alexa, lock the door.”

View a linked Ring camera
Amazon gives “Alexa, show the front door” as an example of displaying a connected Ring camera feed on the TV. The camera must be linked and available to your account. Access to specific Ring camera moments is among the additional features Amazon associates with Prime membership or an Alexa+ Standard Plan.
Ask everyday questions
Amazon lists weather, recipe recommendations, sports scores, and timers as examples of everyday requests you can make through Alexa+ on Fire TV.

What is included, and what requires Prime or an Alexa+ plan?
Amazon says Alexa+ on eligible Fire TV is included at no additional cost. The distinction to keep in mind is that Amazon associates Prime membership or its Alexa+ Standard Plan with access on compatible Echo devices and additional Fire TV capabilities—not with a required activation for the included Fire TV experience.

Features announced for a later Fire TV rollout
On September 30, 2026, Amazon announced another set of Alexa+ Fire TV updates planned to begin rolling out in the U.S. in November. The initial devices named were Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember TVs, and partner TVs. Amazon said expansion to the new Fire TV Stick 4K and additional countries was planned for early 2027. As of October 7, 2026, these were future rollout plans, not current capabilities; check Amazon’s September 30 announcement for updates.

How Amazon describes Alexa+ usage
Amazon reported that Fire TV conversations with Alexa+ were nearly twice as numerous as conversations with original Alexa, and that customers selected Alexa’s top movie recommendation over 40% more frequently for search queries compared with original Alexa.
