You can use the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 as a webcam by connecting it to your computer with a USB-C data cable, selecting Webcam on the camera, and choosing the camera as the video input in your app. DJI’s documented steps apply to Pocket 3; they do not establish webcam setup instructions for the original Osmo Pocket or Pocket 2.
What you need
- A DJI Osmo Pocket 3.
- A USB-C cable that supports data and fits an available port on your computer. DJI specifies USB-C but does not state a required cable generation, length, or retail model. See DJI’s Pocket 3 FAQ.
- A computer and an application that can use a USB video device.
You do not need a tripod, handle, or external microphone to activate Webcam mode. Those are optional: a Pocket 3 mini tripod or Handle With 1/4-inch Thread can help position the camera, and DJI documents support for DJI Mic 2 transmitters. Check DJI’s Pocket 3 support information for accessory compatibility.
Connect the Osmo Pocket 3 and enter Webcam mode
- Power on the Osmo Pocket 3.
- Connect it to your computer with the USB-C data cable.
- When prompted on the camera screen, tap Webcam. The camera then functions as a webcam input device. DJI’s beginner guide describes the on-camera controls available in this mode.
Select it in your video application
Open the video or meeting app you want to use and choose the DJI camera or UVC camera as its video input. DJI names OBS Studio, VooV Meeting, and PotPlayer for Windows, and Photo Booth for macOS in its Osmo Pocket 3 guide. Menu names vary by app, so look under its camera, video, or device settings rather than expecting one universal control path.
DJI describes the feature as UVC, a standard for USB video capture devices. Its cited guidance does not specify a universal resolution or frame rate, so the available choices and performance can depend on the computer and application.

Adjust the camera while using it
The camera screen displays “Webcam” when this mode is active. DJI says you can press the Shutter/Record button to start recording and swipe left from the right edge of the screen to view parameters such as exposure, white balance, and focus mode. Recording and camera-control behavior may differ by application; check the controls in the app you are using as well.
If the computer does not recognize the camera
- Confirm the camera is powered on and Webcam mode is selected on its screen.
- In the application’s video settings, select the DJI camera or the relevant UVC device as the input.
- Check that the USB-C cable supports data and that its connectors fit securely. DJI’s cited instructions do not establish a particular cable model or length.
- If you are using macOS and webcam operation is unstable, DJI advises updating macOS. Compatibility with the system can affect stability; DJI’s note about MacBook compatibility tied to Osmo Action 3 is not a complete Pocket 3 compatibility list. See DJI’s webcam guidance.
Does this work with the original Osmo Pocket or Pocket 2?
The instructions here are for Osmo Pocket 3. The cited DJI sources do not verify that the original Osmo Pocket or DJI Pocket 2 supports this same Webcam-mode workflow, so do not assume the steps or compatibility apply to those models.
