There is no documented global “turn off recommendations” switch in Plex for Android TV. To reduce what appears on Home, unpin unwanted sources in the app; to hide particular rows from a personal library, ask the server admin to change that library’s recommendation settings in Plex Web. Plex says pinned sources are a main determinant of Home content, while its Android TV setting called “Remember selected tab” only affects navigation. (Plex Support)
First identify which Plex source is filling Home
The right control depends on whether the unwanted items come from a personal library, Plex Movies & Shows, or another source. Also consider how broad a change you want: unpinning removes a source from your Home customization, hiding a library row changes what that library contributes, and disabling an online source removes access to it.
- Personal library: unpin its source on Android TV, or have the server admin adjust that library’s rows in Plex Web.
- Plex Movies & Shows: the account owner can disable the source in account settings.
- Another online source: identify the source first. Plex lists Live TV, On Demand, and Discover among sources, but the documented Movies & Shows control is not a universal switch for every online recommendation type. (Plex Support)
Limit Home content on Android TV
Unpin sources you do not want on Home
- Open Plex on your Android TV and bring up the navigation sidebar.
- Open the sidebar’s edit or customization controls.
- Unpin sources whose content you do not want contributing to Home. Reorder the remaining pinned sources if you want to change their order.
Plex describes pinned sources as a main determinant of Home content. This is an app-installation customization, so it controls the Android TV app’s Home rather than changing recommendation settings for every user or device. (Plex Support)
Do not confuse tab memory with recommendation controls
The Android TV setting Remember selected tab remembers the last tab selected for each source, such as Recommended, Library, or Collections. It changes where you return when navigating a source; it does not hide recommendation rows. (Plex Support)

Hide personal-library recommendation rows in Plex Web
This change requires server-owner or administrator access. In Plex Web, go to Settings > Server > Manage > Libraries. Hover over the library you want to change, select Manage Recommendations, then adjust which rows appear in each destination:
- Library Recommended controls rows on that library’s Recommended tab.
- Home controls that library’s rows on the server user’s Home.
- Shared Users’ Home controls rows shown on Home to shared users, including managed users.
Home rows from a library are shown when that library is pinned. The server admin can make the shared-user choice separately from the server user’s own Home settings. Available rows depend on the source type and the admin’s choices. (Plex Support)

Use favorites to keep library content off Home
Plex also documents a broader option: if no favorite libraries are selected, accessible libraries remain available, but their content does not appear in Home recommendation rows. Selecting favorite libraries and setting their order affects which library rows appear and in what order. (Plex Support)
Disable Plex Movies & Shows if you do not want that source
If the unwanted recommendations are from Plex Movies & Shows, the account owner can disable that source under the account’s Online Media Sources settings. Plex provides an option to disable it for managed users as well. This removes access to the source; it is not a way to hide just one Movies & Shows row while keeping the source available. Know what cannot be hidden with these controls
Continue Watching is the stated exception: Plex says those rows always appear on Home and on individual library Recommended tabs. The documented Manage Recommendations controls cannot disable them. (Plex Support)
After server-side row changes, the result may not show immediately because player apps can cache information. Refresh Plex Web; on Android TV, quit and restart the app so it can load the updated settings. (Plex Support)
