Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo turn off Developer Mode on a Chromebook, restart it and use the startup screen’s option to re-enable OS verification, then follow the on-screen prompts. This restores verified boot and erases local data, so back up important files first. If you enabled Google’s debugging features, a recovery is needed to turn those off; recovery also erases the Chromebook.
Before you turn Developer Mode off
Back up files stored locally before starting. A reset erases Downloads, settings, apps, and other local files. Files already in Google Drive or on external storage are not erased by the reset, according to Google’s Chromebook reset guidance.
- Copy files you need from Downloads and other local folders to Google Drive or external storage.
- If the Chromebook belongs to work or school, contact its administrator before resetting it. The organization may require the device to be enrolled before you sign in again.
Re-enable OS verification
- Restart the Chromebook.
- At the startup screen stating that OS verification is off, choose the on-screen option to re-enable OS verification. On devices covered by Google’s managed-device instructions, press Space and then Enter when prompted; the exact interaction can vary by device. Follow the Chromebook’s prompts rather than looking for a Developer Mode switch in Settings. See Google’s instructions for managed Chromebooks.
- Wait for the transition to finish. It erases local data and returns the device to secure mode.
- Complete the ChromeOS setup flow. If the Chromebook is managed, follow your organization’s instructions for enrollment before signing in.
If you enabled debugging features
Turning OS verification back on does not necessarily turn off Google’s debugging features. Google says most can remain enabled after a Powerwash and directs users to perform a recovery to turn them off: “To turn off debugging, perform a recovery.” Read Google’s instructions for debugging features before proceeding.
Recovery removes and reinstalls ChromeOS and permanently erases the Chromebook’s hard drive. Google recommends recovery for operating-system problems such as “ChromeOS is missing or damaged” or persistent issues after less invasive troubleshooting. Some newer supported Chromebooks offer internet recovery; other devices require USB recovery media. See Google’s Chromebook recovery instructions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
When USB recovery media is required
If your Chromebook does not offer internet recovery, you can create USB recovery media. You need the affected Chromebook, another Chromebook or a Windows or Mac computer with Chrome, and a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of capacity. Creating the recovery media erases the USB drive. An 8 GB or larger USB flash drive may be useful for this optional recovery path, but it is not needed just to leave Developer Mode. Follow Google’s recovery steps to create and use the media.
If the Chromebook is managed or the prompt differs
For a work- or school-managed Chromebook, ask the administrator for reset guidance before proceeding. Organization policies can affect wipe behavior and may require re-enrollment before sign-in. If the startup screen or available options differ from the steps above, follow the device’s own prompts and contact your administrator or Chromebook manufacturer for model-specific help.
