Scout’s Alpha Guide identifies short-lived account sessions, the need for clearer guidance, and slow step execution as possible obstacles. It also directs users to report problems through live chat or the “Add Feedback” link on a task.
Start by checking the connected account
Scout works with accounts you connect to it, such as Gmail or Slack. If the service has signed you out, Scout may need you to sign in again before it can continue. The Scout Guide describes short-lived sessions as a known issue.
- Open the relevant service in Scout’s Cloud Browser.
- Check whether the account is still signed in. If it is not, sign in as you normally would.
- Click “Save & Close” to finish the connection flow described in the guide.
This is the most relevant check when a task stalls while accessing an account or service. The guide does not document a universal retry or resume procedure for tasks that have already stopped midway.
Make the task instructions clearer
Scout’s guide describes the product as an alpha work in progress and notes that it may need guidance to finish tasks reliably. For a task that repeatedly fails, state the outcome you want and include the relevant steps or constraints rather than relying on an underspecified request.

You can attach a Skill to a task. Skills add instructions and can be created by you or chosen from the existing library. For a recurring task, a task-specific Skill can make the instructions explicit and reusable. This may improve the likelihood of success, but the guide does not promise that a Skill will resolve every failure.
Allow for step-by-step delays
The Scout Guide says a step can take 5 to 10 seconds because it may involve sending a large payload to an AI model and waiting for a response. That estimate is undated and has no stated measurement context; it is not a service-level commitment or a reliable timeout for diagnosing a stalled task.

If Scout appears to be taking a while, distinguish slow progress from a failure where possible. The guide does not specify how long a task should take overall or give a formal threshold for when to treat it as stuck.

If checking the session and clarifying the instructions do not help, send Scout feedback so the team can see what happened. The guide asks alpha users to use live chat or the “Add Feedback” link on each task. Include the request you made and the result—for example, where it stopped or what it did instead. The guide does not require a particular diagnostic bundle.

For a task that stops midway, avoid assuming that Scout rolled back or safely completed earlier actions: the guide does not explain task recovery, rollback, or error-code procedures. Use the feedback channel and ask Scout’s support team for current guidance if you need to know how to proceed.
