For a few nearby files, try Samsung Quick Share with Apple-device sharing enabled. For a large batch or an offline transfer, use compatible external storage; if your files already live in a cloud service, open that service on both tablets. Notes need extra care: moving a PDF or Markdown export is not the same as transferring an editable note with its original structure.
Choose the transfer route that fits your files

Send a few files with Quick Share
Samsung documents Quick Share support for certain Apple devices, but compatibility depends on the Galaxy’s Quick Share version and the iPad’s generation and software. Check Samsung’s current Quick Share guidance for the supported-device requirements before relying on this route; settings and availability can change.
- On the Galaxy tablet: Open Quick Share and enable “Share with Apple devices.”
- On the iPad: Go to Settings > General > AirDrop and make the iPad discoverable as Samsung instructs.
- On both tablets: Keep them nearby and turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- On the Galaxy: Select the files, choose Quick Share, and select the iPad if it appears. Accept the transfer on the iPad if prompted.
If the iPad does not appear, first recheck compatibility, discoverability, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Menu wording can vary by software version. If the devices still cannot connect, use external storage or a cloud service instead.
Move a large batch or transfer files offline with external storage
A USB flash drive or compatible external drive acts as a bridge: copy files from one tablet to the drive, then connect it to the other tablet and copy them there. Samsung describes using USB flash drives and SSDs, with an OTG adapter sometimes needed. Apple also notes that an adapter may be required to connect external storage to an iPad. - Check the connector on each tablet and whether you need a USB-C or OTG adapter.
- Check that the drive’s format is supported by both devices and that it has enough free space.
- Connect the drive to the Galaxy and copy the selected files to it using a file-management app.
- Connect the drive to the iPad. In Files or another app that supports the drive, locate and copy the files to the desired location.
- Move the drive to the other tablet if needed, then verify that the copied files open before deleting any originals.
Use a cloud service for files already online
If the files are already stored in a service both tablets can access, sign in to that service on the receiving device and download or open the files there. Apple’s iPad guide describes cloud locations in Files, including iCloud, Box, and Dropbox; subscriptions or service fees may apply. The exact files and features available depend on the service, account, and app.
Samsung says data synced with an external service is not transferred by Smart Switch; it becomes available after you add the relevant account on the receiving device. So for cloud-synced material, use the account and service rather than treating Smart Switch as the transfer path.

Transfer notes without assuming they will stay editable
Notes are different from ordinary documents. A note app may store text, drawings, scans, attachments, and formatting in a structure another app cannot reproduce. Exporting a note gives you a portable copy, but does not by itself prove that the destination app can import it as an editable note.
Exporting from Apple Notes on iPad
Apple’s iPadOS 27 guide documents exporting an individual note as PDF or Markdown. A PDF is generally useful as a readable snapshot; Markdown is portable text for workflows and apps that support it. Apple’s guide says: “You can export your notes as Markdown files to integrate them into writing, content, and other workflows that support Markdown.” Check that the Samsung app you plan to use supports the format and the content you need. There is an important PDF limitation: if a note contains a multipage PDF or scanned document, Apple’s exported PDF contains only the first page of that embedded item. Export or transfer the attachment separately if you need every page in your archive.
Moving notes from Samsung Notes to iPad
The Samsung material cited here establishes Samsung Notes syncing through Samsung Cloud, but does not establish a direct Samsung Notes-to-Apple Notes conversion or import. Check the export options available in your own Samsung Notes version. If it can export a portable file, transfer that file using Quick Share, external storage, or cloud storage; treat it as an archive unless you have verified that your chosen iPad app can import it with the editability and formatting you need.

Apple also documents sharing a file from Files into Notes to create a new note or add it to an existing one. That workflow does not guarantee that an arbitrary Samsung Notes export becomes an editable Apple Note. See Apple’s instructions for adding attachments to Notes.

Smart Switch is not a complete Samsung-to-iPad migration tool. Samsung’s tablet setup guide describes transfers into Galaxy devices and lists supported data types, including some content brought from iOS via iCloud or cable. Samsung explicitly cautions: “Although Smart Switch allows you to transfer a wide variety of content, like contacts, call history, call logs, photos, videos, and documents, there are some things that cannot be transferred using the app.” Its documented transfer routes and content limits do not establish a direct migration from a Samsung tablet into iPadOS. For cross-platform files, use one of the routes above; for synced data, add the relevant account on the destination device. See Samsung’s tablet setup and Smart Switch guidance.
