The exact choices depend on the source device and transfer method. Apps may need to be installed again, and app-specific data generally does not transfer.
Before you start
- Charge both devices and connect them to a reliable Wi-Fi network if you plan to transfer wirelessly.
- Have the old device available and unlocked. For a wired transfer, check that you have a compatible cable and connectors for both devices.
- On the Tab S10 Lite, open Settings and look for Smart Switch. Samsung also says Smart Switch Mobile can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store. Menu wording can vary by software version.
Samsung says the Tab S10 Lite can receive selected data from a previous device, but the available content varies by transmission method. See Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 Lite transfer guidance for its current method details.
Transfer data with Smart Switch
- Open Smart Switch on the tablet. Start it from Settings or open the app if it is already installed.
- Choose the old device’s type. Follow the prompts to identify whether the source is an Android device or an iPhone or iPad.
- Select a connection method. Choose wireless or cable when offered. For an iPhone, Samsung also documents importing from iCloud. The options shown depend on the source device, its software, and the Smart Switch version.
- Connect or sign in as prompted. For a cable transfer, follow the on-screen connection instructions. For an iCloud import, use the requested Apple account and backup details.
- Choose what to transfer. Review the categories Smart Switch presents and select the files and data you want. Do not assume every category is available on every route.
- Start the transfer and keep the devices connected. Follow any prompts on the old device and wait for Smart Switch to report completion.
- Check the tablet. Open important photos, videos, notes, and other files, then confirm that essential accounts and apps are ready to use.
Choose a transfer route

For iOS transfers, Samsung’s UK product page lists these minimum operating-system versions: wired transfer requires Android 5.0 or later on the receiving device and iOS 5 or later on the sender; wireless requires Android 5.0 or later and iOS 12 or later; iCloud transfer requires Android 5.0 or later and iOS 5 or later. These are the thresholds published on that page; follow the current Smart Switch prompts if they differ.
What happens to apps and app data?
Plan to install apps again on the tablet rather than expecting an exact copy of an iPhone or Android device. Samsung’s iOS migration compatibility guide says third-party iOS app data does not transfer over Wi-Fi, cable, or desktop migration. Some wired or desktop routes may offer Android versions of third-party apps for download when available, but that is not the same as moving the original iOS app and its private data.

After the file transfer, install the Android versions of the apps you use and sign in. Check each app for its own cloud sync, backup, or export-and-import feature if you need to restore app-specific information.
Limits to know when moving from an iPhone
Samsung’s iOS-to-Android compatibility guide, dated 2023 and focused on Galaxy smartphone migration, marks several categories as unsupported or limited, including health app information, historical email, some account data, saved passwords, and locked notes. The guide does not establish that every limitation is unchanged for every current consumer setup, so treat the categories shown by Smart Switch on your tablet as the practical guide.

If you are switching your phone number and messaging from an iPhone to Android, Samsung recommends deregistering iMessage so SMS messages can reach the new device. That is an iPhone messaging step, not a Tab S10 Lite transfer feature.

The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite supports microSD cards up to 2 TB, sold separately. Samsung describes external memory as suitable for media such as photos, video, and music. A card can provide extra room for files; it is not required for Smart Switch and does not perform the transfer.

Some regional Samsung listings include a USB Type-C data cable in the box, but in-box items vary by country or provider. Check what came with your tablet and confirm the old device’s connector before buying a cable.
