To move apps, photos, messages, and other supported data to a POCO, use the copy option during the phone’s initial setup or Xiaomi’s Mi Mover app. If the POCO is already set up, Mi Mover is the practical starting point. Transfer support varies by phone and Android version, so check important apps and files on the POCO before wiping or trading in the old phone.
Choose the transfer method that fits your POCO

Xiaomi lists contacts, messages, photos, videos, music, apps, and other personal data as Mi Mover transfer categories. The list does not guarantee that every app’s private data, settings, login session, or locally stored content will transfer.
Transfer with Mi Mover
Xiaomi’s instructions require both phones to be nearby, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and at least 30% battery charge. Install the latest Mi Mover version on both devices before starting.
- Open Mi Mover on both phones.
- On the old Android phone, select Old. On the POCO, select New.
- When the POCO detects the old phone, select it to connect.
- Choose the data types you want to move. Read and confirm the prompts on the POCO, then tap Send.
- Keep the phones close, leave their screens on, and avoid switching apps until the progress bar finishes.
Xiaomi says Mi Mover uses Wi-Fi Direct and does not consume mobile data. Xiaomi describes the transfer as local and peer-to-peer, with data not uploaded to a server; this statement applies to Mi Mover as described by Xiaomi, not to every transfer method.

Copy data during POCO setup
If the POCO has not been set up yet, its initial Android setup may offer a way to copy apps and data from the old phone. The POCO C40 user guide documents this flow; options and labels can vary on other models and software versions.
- Turn on the POCO, tap Start, and choose the option to copy apps and data when it appears.
- If both phones and the setup flow support a compatible data cable, connect them and follow the on-screen instructions.
- For the documented wireless route, select No cable? > Ok., choose the Android backup option, and follow the prompts.
If you have already completed setup, use Mi Mover instead of assuming this initial setup flow will still be available.

Check apps, messages, and files before erasing the old phone
After the transfer, open the important apps on the POCO and confirm that the content you need is present. Sign in again if prompted. For any app whose data is missing, check its own backup, sync, or export options on the old phone. Xiaomi notes that compatibility varies with the old device model and operating-system version, and does not promise that every app’s private data or settings will migrate.
- Review important conversations and other message content on the POCO.
- Open several recent and older photos and videos to confirm they are available.
- Check music, documents, and other files you rely on.
- Keep the old phone intact until you have verified critical content and can access your key accounts.
Send a few missing files separately
Use Xiaomi Share
Xiaomi Share can send selected photos, videos, documents, and music between supported nearby devices. It uses Bluetooth to discover devices and Wi-Fi Direct to transfer files, so keep both features enabled. Private albums and private notes are not supported. If a transfer fails, Xiaomi recommends checking free storage and keeping Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on. Xiaomi says received files appear in File Manager under Download > MiShare.

Use Quick Share
Quick Share is another nearby-device option for selected photos, videos, and documents when both devices support it. Xiaomi’s guidance includes a QR-code option if the receiving device does not appear in the list. It is a way to send individual files, not a replacement for a whole-phone migration.

Troubleshoot a transfer that will not start or finish
- The old phone is not detected: Confirm Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on both phones, update Mi Mover, and bring the devices close together.
- The transfer stops or stalls: Leave both screens on, keep the phones nearby, and do not switch apps while the transfer is running.
- An app is missing or will not work: Check for an update or reinstall it on the POCO, then sign in and use the app’s own recovery or backup options as needed.
- The phone gets warm: Xiaomi says migration can temporarily heat the POCO X7 Pro while data is transmitted and apps are downloaded, updated, and installed. That explanation is specific to the X7 Pro; Xiaomi recommends updating the software and updating or reinstalling incompatible apps.
