/usageto view session cost, plan usage limits and activity statistics. The current command reference also lists/costand/statsas aliases. Anthropic’s Claude Code command reference documents these commands. -
Enter
/statusfor account, model, version and connectivity details. Anthropic also recommends this status view for monitoring remaining plan allocation. Your account’s own display is more useful for your remaining usage than a general plan estimate. Anthropic Help Center: Using Claude Code with your Pro or Max plan
On Pro and Max, Claude.ai and Claude Code draw from the same usage limits. Using Claude in the web or app can therefore leave less allocation available for Claude Code during the same window.

What the published prompt estimates mean
Anthropic’s Help Center gives approximate Claude Code prompt counts for five-hour windows. They are estimates for average users, not guaranteed quotas or a prediction of what any particular account will receive. The prices below are the plan prices stated in that Help Center guidance when retrieved on October 7, 2026; check Anthropic’s current plan page for changes.

Anthropic says usage varies with input and conversation length, file attachments, project complexity, codebase size and settings such as auto-accept. A short request in a small project and a long session working across a large repository can consume usage very differently. Use the ranges only as rough context, not as a fixed prompt budget.

Check Claude Code API usage and costs
If Claude Code is authenticated to use the Anthropic API, inspect usage in Anthropic Console rather than treating a Pro or Max plan estimate as your API balance. Open the Console’s Usage report to review token counts and rate-limited requests, or its Cost report to review charges. Anthropic describes report filters for model, time period and API key, along with CSV export for both reports. Developer, Billing and Admin roles can view the reports; the cited Help Center guidance says they do not currently provide an individual-user breakdown. API charges are separate from subscription allocation and are billed at standard API rates. Cost depends on the model and token categories used, including input, output and prompt-cache tokens. Rates and rate limits can change, so check the official Anthropic API pricing documentation for the model and pricing tier in your account rather than relying on an old quoted rate.

Claude Code’s setup documentation lists Amazon Bedrock and Google Vertex AI as provider options. If your organization uses one of them, check with the platform or account administrator responsible for that provider’s billing and usage reporting. Considering API credits: Anthropic describes API-credit usage as an alternative, but it changes the billing path: API usage is billed at standard API rates and is not automatically included in a Pro or Max subscription. Choose it deliberately and review the applicable API pricing first.

Using an organization-managed provider: Ask your administrator which provider account Claude Code is configured to use and where that provider reports consumption and limits.
