You can test a website in Safari from a Windows PC, but you cannot install a currently updated Apple Safari browser on Windows. Apple says it no longer offers Safari updates for Windows or other non-Apple operating systems. The practical options are to use Safari on a Mac, connect to a remote browser-testing service, or use Windows WebKit for an engine-level check—not as proof that the site works in Safari.
Can you install Safari on Windows 10 or Windows 11?
No current, supported Safari for Windows is available from Apple. Apple’s Safari update guidance states that it no longer offers Safari updates for Windows or other non-Apple operating systems. Old Windows Safari installers may still circulate, but they are not a reliable way to check how a current Safari release renders a site.
If your goal is compatibility testing, use a current Safari environment rather than an old installer. Choose desktop macOS Safari or Safari on iPhone or iPad according to the audience and issue you need to test; those are distinct targets.
Three ways to test Safari from a Windows workflow

Option 1: Run Safari on a Mac
A Mac is the direct local route when you need to interact with Apple’s Safari app or run Safari WebDriver tests. Apple’s Safari WebDriver documentation explains how to enable WebDriver and use a client library that communicates through the W3C WebDriver protocol. Safari and Safari Technology Preview provide their own safaridriver.

You can author or orchestrate test code on Windows, but the machine executing the Safari browser session must have Safari. Installing Selenium or another WebDriver client on Windows does not install Safari there. For a repeatable setup, assess whether you need a Mac available for hands-on checks, automation, or continuous integration, and which macOS and Safari releases matter to your users.
Option 2: Use a remote browser-testing service
A browser-testing service can stream a Safari session to your Windows computer, so you can inspect a site without a local Mac. BrowserStack, for example, advertises remote Safari testing and documents Safari browser selection for Selenium automation. These are vendor-described capabilities, not a guarantee that every Safari version, device, or operating-system combination is available at all times.

Before choosing a service, verify the exact configuration and workflow you need:
- Target: Confirm whether the session is desktop macOS Safari or Safari on an iPhone or iPad, and check the offered OS and browser versions.
- Site access: If the site is on localhost, a private staging environment, or behind a firewall, confirm how the service connects to it.
- Testing style: Check support for manual sessions, automation, screenshots, logs, and any CI integration you require.
- Access terms: Review current pricing, plan limits, and trial terms directly with the vendor; these can change.
For setup instructions, follow the service’s current dashboard and documentation rather than assuming its browser catalog or local-network setup matches another provider’s.

Option 3: Use WebKit on Windows for a preliminary check
WebKit is the browser engine associated with Safari, but a Windows WebKit build is not the Apple Safari app. WebKit’s documentation on platform ports explains that the project has platform-specific versions, Apple maintains ports for Apple operating systems, and the Windows port supports WebKit development and testing. The documentation also notes there are no cross-platform WebKit releases.
A Windows WebKit test can help surface an engine-level issue early. It cannot establish that a site works in Safari on macOS, iOS, or iPadOS, where the browser and platform environment differ. If Safari compatibility is a release requirement, validate the site in the relevant Apple Safari environment before treating the check as complete. Choose a test environment that matches the bug
Start with the browser and device where the problem is reported—or where your audience is most likely to encounter it. Desktop macOS Safari does not stand in for mobile Safari, and a mobile session does not validate desktop layout or interaction. For intermittent or device-specific issues, match the reported OS and browser version as closely as the available environment allows.
If the issue is a visual difference or interaction bug, a manual Safari session may be the fastest way to inspect it. If you need repeatable regression coverage, compare the cost and setup of a Mac-based WebDriver workflow with a remote service that offers the required Safari configuration and automation access. Use Windows WebKit as a preliminary engine check, not as the final Safari sign-off.
