To test a Genshin Impact team rotation, repeat it against the same enemy under comparable conditions, record each meaningful hit and reaction over a fixed time window, and compare both total damage and how reliably you can execute the sequence. Keep team, equipment, buffs, enemy aura, and starting energy consistent. Treat a calculator result as an estimate of the events and assumptions you entered—not as an in-game damage reading.
Set up a fair rotation test
A damage comparison only tells you which rotation performed better if the runs use comparable conditions. Enemy resistance affects damage, and reactions depend on the elemental state of the target. No single enemy is the right universal test target for every team, so choose one that suits the question and keep its combat state consistent.
- Use the same target: Keep the enemy and its resistance state consistent between runs.
- Match the team setup: Use the same characters, equipment, levels, talents, and buffs.
- Start from comparable energy: Make sure characters have the same starting energy so bursts are equally available.
- Keep the test window fixed: Decide how long each run lasts and include the same portion of the rotation in every comparison.
- Track the aura: Note the enemy’s elemental aura and aim for comparable reaction conditions in each run.
These controls are for comparing execution, not a claim that a particular build or target is optimal. The HoYoWiki elemental-reaction reference and the Genshin Impact Wiki damage reference describe how reaction behavior and enemy resistance can affect damage.
Record the rotation as individual events
Write down the sequence as it actually happens, rather than recording only the order of character swaps or ability casts. Include attacks and follow-up damage triggered by another character’s action. For each meaningful hit, note its source, damage number, and whether it triggered a reaction. Keeping burst hits and repeated damage instances distinct makes the result easier to interpret.
#1 Best Overall
- Write the action order, including skill and burst casts, attacks, and character swaps.
- For each significant damage instance, record the character, ability or attack, and damage number.
- Mark the reaction associated with a hit when one occurs.
- Add the damage from the same fixed time window for every run.
Do not rely on reaction pop-up text alone. Rapid reaction text can be hidden even when the reaction occurred and dealt damage, so a missing pop-up does not establish that a hit had no reaction (Genshin Impact Wiki: Damage).
Interpret reaction damage correctly
Elemental reactions do not all modify damage in the same way. HoYoWiki groups damage reactions into amplifying, additive, and transformative types:
Rank #2
- Amplifying reactions: Vaporize and Melt amplify the hit that triggers the reaction.
- Additive reactions: Aggravate and Spread add damage to the triggering attack.
- Transformative reactions: These create separate damage instances and follow different scaling behavior.
For transformative reactions, damage depends on the triggering character’s level and Elemental Mastery, as well as the target’s resistance. It does not use the triggering attack’s ATK or ordinary damage bonus in the same way. That is why reaction damage cannot always be interpreted as a simple multiplier on the character’s displayed hit (HoYoWiki; Genshin Impact Wiki).
Repeat runs and compare more than the best total
Repeat each rotation several times when practical. Critical hits and variable reaction application can make individual runs differ, so a single result may not represent typical execution. Compare the total damage over the fixed window alongside the damage sources, reaction application, and how consistently you complete the setup actions.

- It is the Taisho Period in Japan; Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon
- Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human and kill the demon that massacred his family
- Follow Tanjiro through the story from the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” anime as he faces demons in order to turn his sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back into a human
- Master the multitude of spectacular skills of a wide roster of characters from the anime, including Tanjiro and Nezuko, to overcome challengers in head-to-head battle, locally and online
A rotation with a high ideal total may be less effective in practice if its setup is easy to miss or its reactions apply inconsistently. For two options, compare:
- Total damage across the same duration.
- Damage by character, attack, or reaction where you recorded it.
- How reliably the setup actions and follow-up attacks occur.
- How consistently the intended reactions apply.
- The enemy aura, buffs, and other conditions used for the comparison.
Use a damage calculator for a modeled rotation
A calculator can help estimate a planned rotation, but it only models the events and assumptions entered. The genshin-damage-calc rotation documentation describes rotations as static: actions and secondary effects, such as attacks triggered by another character’s hit, must be declared rather than assumed to happen automatically. The documentation also supports reaction and aura assumptions and reaction-uptime inputs.

Ads can often be disruptive and distracting, so having the option to play without them significantly improves overall enjoyment. With no interruptions, players can focus solely on strategy and gameplay, creating a smoother and more immersive experience.
When using a calculator, enter the rotation’s actions and triggered damage explicitly, then check that its aura and reaction assumptions match the scenario you want to model. Report the output as a modeled estimate, not a recorded in-game result. See the genshin-damage-calc rotation documentation for how rotation events are represented.

State whether your numbers came from in-game runs or a calculator model. Include the test duration and the conditions that matter to the comparison: target and resistance state, team setup, buffs, starting energy, and aura or reaction assumptions. For a run-based comparison, report repeated results and execution consistency rather than presenting one unusually strong run as a guaranteed outcome.
