Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →As of TrendForce’s 30 September 2026 outlook, memory contract prices are still forecast to rise in the fourth quarter—not fall. The projected increase is slower for conventional DRAM than in the preceding surge, but a slower climb does not prove prices have peaked. To tell what shoppers are actually facing, compare like-for-like retail listings over time and keep those observations separate from supplier forecasts and company-wide selling-price figures.
Are RAM and SSD prices still going up?
At the upstream contract level, TrendForce forecasts conventional DRAM prices to rise 10–15% quarter over quarter in 4Q26, and NAND Flash prices to rise 15–20% over the same period. These are forecasts for contract markets, not promises that a particular RAM kit or SSD will increase by the same amount at a shop.
The DRAM forecast points to a moderated pace of increase, not a confirmed peak. A price can keep rising even as its rate of increase slows. TrendForce also reports that PC DRAM procurement is supported by expectations of tight supply in 2027, while higher component costs are weighing on notebook sales. Why RAM, client SSDs, and enterprise SSDs can move differently
PC DRAM
PC DRAM procurement is being supported by expectations of tight supply in 2027. That upstream support does not establish how quickly, or by how much, a given consumer RAM listing changes. Product generation, kit specification, retailer inventory, and promotions can all affect the price a shopper sees.

Client SSDs
Consumer-facing client SSD conditions are more restrained in TrendForce’s outlook. PC brands can draw on finished-goods and channel inventory, and some are reducing SSD capacities in mainstream systems to control costs. Those factors limit procurement and restrain price increases. A NAND contract forecast should therefore not be treated as a direct forecast for every consumer SSD.
Enterprise SSDs
Enterprise SSDs are a separate market segment with stronger demand. TrendForce projects enterprise SSD bit demand to grow by more than 80% year over year in 2026 and expects enterprise SSD price growth to accelerate in 4Q26. That outlook describes enterprise products and demand; it is not evidence that consumer SSD prices will rise at the same rate.

What the reported figures do—and do not—measure
| Figure | What it measures | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 10–15% quarter over quarter | TrendForce’s 30 September 2026 forecast for conventional DRAM contract prices in 4Q26. | An upstream forecast, not a retail RAM price index or guarantee. |
| 15–20% quarter over quarter | TrendForce’s 30 September 2026 forecast for NAND Flash contract prices in 4Q26. | An upstream forecast, not a guaranteed change for a consumer SSD listing. |
| More than 80% year over year | TrendForce’s projected growth in enterprise SSD bit demand in 2026. | Applies to enterprise SSD demand, not consumer SSD prices. |
| Approximately 140% | Micron’s DRAM average selling price increase for the first nine months of fiscal 2026 versus the first nine months of fiscal 2025. | A company-wide ASP comparison, not the change in retail RAM prices. |
| Approximately 130% | Micron’s NAND average selling price increase for the first nine months of fiscal 2026 versus the first nine months of fiscal 2025. | A company-wide ASP comparison, not the change in consumer SSD prices. |
Micron’s ASP figures come from its fiscal 2026 third-quarter Form 10-Q, filed 28 May 2026. Average selling prices reflect the company’s sales mix and transactions, not the shelf price of one product. TrendForce’s contract forecasts and Micron’s company-wide ASP changes answer different questions from a dated retail listing.

- Choose one exact product category and specification. For RAM, compare the same generation and form factor, such as desktop DDR5 DIMM kits, and keep capacity and kit configuration consistent. For SSDs, match interface, form factor, and capacity—for example, one capacity of consumer NVMe drive rather than mixing it with SATA or enterprise models.
- Compare dated listings in your region. Record the same product’s listed price from the same country or market across multiple dates. TrendForce’s NAND Flash pricing page separates spot, OEM contract, and SSD street-price indicators, and includes individual SSD examples with their own update dates. Those listings are useful observations, not a universal global retail average.
- Separate price movement from changes in the offer. Note whether a change reflects a temporary discount, a different seller, a changed capacity, or a different product. If the listing switches from one model or capacity to another, it is not a like-for-like price comparison.
- Track both the price level and its rate of change. A listing that rises more slowly is still rising. Evidence of a retail peak would require comparable prices to stop rising or to decline over time; one forecast that shows a slower increase is not enough.
- Keep market context in a separate column. Track contract-market forecasts alongside, not in place of, observed retail prices. This makes it easier to see whether supplier conditions and consumer listings are moving together, lagging, or diverging.
The cited sources do not establish a broad, representative retail RAM price series. For RAM in particular, the practical check is a consistent record of actual, compatible product listings in the reader’s own market—not a claim that an overall consumer index has confirmed a peak.

How to read the signals without calling the peak too early
- Contract prices still forecast upward: upstream pressure remains, even if the pace of DRAM increases is moderating.
- Retail prices vary by product and timing: a contract movement may not pass through immediately or evenly, particularly when inventory and discounts intervene.
- Client SSDs and enterprise SSDs are not interchangeable evidence: different demand and inventory conditions can produce different price paths.
- A slowing rise is not a reversal: judge a possible retail peak from repeated like-for-like observations, not from a lower growth rate alone.
