You do not need to scroll manually or stitch multiple images together.
In current Edge versions, the feature is called Screenshot. Microsoft’s policy documentation calls it “Screenshot (previously named Web Capture),” while the enterprise policy itself remains named WebCaptureEnabled.
Capture a full webpage with Edge Screenshot
This is the simplest method on a Windows or Mac desktop.
- Open the webpage or PDF you want to capture in Microsoft Edge.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + S.
- When the Screenshot tool opens, select Capture full page.
- Wait while Edge captures content outside the visible viewport.
- Use the resulting overlay to annotate the image, then choose Copy or Save.
Full-page capture does not require manual scrolling. Edge creates one image containing the page from top to bottom, subject to the page’s content and browser support.

Use the Edge menu instead
If you do not remember the shortcut:
- Select Settings and more—the … button in the upper-right corner.
- Select Screenshot.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Annotate the capture if needed, then select Copy or Save.
You can also right-click the webpage and select Screenshot. If Screenshot is missing from the context menu, use the main … menu or keyboard shortcut instead.
What you can do after capturing
Edge displays the completed capture in an overlay. From there, you can:
- Copy the image to the clipboard for pasting into an email, document, chat, or image editor.
- Save the image as a file.
- Annotate it with drawing tools before copying or saving.
Markup is useful for circling a setting or pointing out a problem. Add annotations before selecting Copy or Save if you want them included in the final image.
Capture a full page with DevTools
Edge’s Screenshot tool is normally enough, but Developer Tools provides another full-page capture method and gives you more control over the emulated screen size.

- Open Developer Tools by pressing Ctrl + Shift + I, or select Settings and more > More tools > Developer tools.
- In DevTools, turn on device emulation if necessary by selecting the Toggle device emulation button in the toolbar.
- Open the device-toolbar More options menu.
- Select Capture a full size screenshot.
Edge saves a screenshot of the entire page, including content below the current viewport. In the same menu, Capture screenshot captures only the current viewport, so do not choose it when you need the complete page.
Screenshot versus DevTools: which should you use?

How moving content affects the capture
Edge keeps moving content active while taking a Screenshot. Videos, animated GIFs, carousels, and similar elements may appear at whatever state they reach during capture. If a particular frame matters:
- Pause the video or animation where possible.
- Move a carousel to the slide you want.
- Wait for lazy-loaded content to appear before starting the capture.
- Run the capture again if the resulting frame is not the one you intended.
A full-page image may look different from what you saw initially if the webpage changes as Edge processes it—for example, when advertisements, live feeds, or deferred images load.
Capture a PDF in Edge
Microsoft’s enterprise documentation says Screenshot supports both web and PDF content. Open the PDF in Edge, start Screenshot, and select Capture full page when that option is available.

For a multi-page PDF, the result may be a very tall image. If you need searchable text, selectable pages, or the original document quality, downloading or printing the PDF is usually better than converting it into one screenshot.
Screenshot option missing in Edge
Try these checks in order:
- Use the current name. Look for Screenshot, not Web capture. Web Capture is the former name.
- Try the shortcut. Press Ctrl + Shift + S. If the tool opens, the menu entry may simply be hard to find.
- Update Edge. Select Settings and more > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge. Edge checks for updates on that page.
- Check the page. Test the feature on an ordinary webpage. Browser-internal pages, restricted content, or pages controlled by an organization may behave differently.
- Ask your administrator. Managed Edge installations can disable the feature through policy.
Managed computers: the WebCaptureEnabled policy
The policy name has not been renamed. Administrators still control the feature with WebCaptureEnabled. If that policy is disabled, users cannot access Screenshot from the context menu, the Settings and more menu, or Ctrl + Shift + S.
On Windows, the policy is under Administrative Templates/Microsoft Edge. Its registry value is WebCaptureEnabled under SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge.
When the policy is enabled or not configured, Screenshot should appear in the context menu, Settings and more menu, and through the shortcut. Availability can vary by device type, market, and browser version.

Desktop and mobile support
Microsoft’s policy documentation lists support for Windows and macOS beginning with Edge 87 or later. It lists Android and iOS as not supported for this feature. The steps above are therefore intended for desktop Edge, not the Edge mobile apps.
Why older guides give the wrong answer
Early versions of Web Capture were commonly described as capturing only the visible area. That advice is outdated for the current Screenshot tool. In current Edge, select Capture full page to capture content beyond the viewport without manually scrolling.
The terminology is easy to confuse: Screenshot is the current user-facing name, while WebCaptureEnabled remains the policy identifier and Web Capture appears in older instructions.

Is Edge Web Capture now called Screenshot?
Yes. Microsoft now labels the user-facing feature Screenshot. Web Capture is the former name and remains part of the WebCaptureEnabled policy name.
Does Edge scroll automatically when capturing a full page?
Yes. Select Capture full page and Edge captures content beyond the visible viewport without requiring you to scroll manually.
Where does Edge save a full-page screenshot?
After the capture, Edge shows an overlay with Copy and Save options. Select Save and choose a file location if Edge prompts you.
Why is Screenshot disabled or missing on a work computer?

The Bottom Line
