On most Samsung Galaxy tablets, press Power + Volume Down together, then release after a brief moment. The screen should flash or show another capture indicator. Open Gallery > Screenshots to find the image. If your tablet has a physical Home button, Power + Home is an alternative. Gestures, scrolling screenshots, and S Pen tools depend on the model and screen.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press Power and Volume Down at the same time, then release after a brief moment. Do not keep holding the buttons.
- Look for a flash or other capture indication.
- Open Gallery, then the Screenshots album.
On a tablet with a physical Home button, press Power + Home together instead. Button names and locations can vary by model; consult the manual for your specific tablet if you cannot identify them. Samsung documents these button methods in its screenshot instructions and Galaxy tablet guide.
Use Palm swipe if your tablet supports it
Some compatible tablets let you capture a screen by swiping the edge of your hand across the display. Check Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures for Palm swipe to capture, and turn it on if the setting is available. Then swipe the edge of your hand across the screen.
- If the option is missing, Palm swipe may not be supported on your model or software version.
- The gesture is unavailable while the keyboard is showing.
Samsung notes that gesture availability varies by device and software. See its motions and gestures guidance for details.

Capture a long page with Scroll capture
For a webpage or document that extends beyond one screen, take a regular screenshot first. If Scroll capture appears in the screenshot toolbar, tap it to extend the capture, and repeat as needed while the page scrolls. The control is conditional: it may not appear for every app, page, or screen. Samsung describes the feature in its screenshot guide.
Annotate with S Pen Screen Write
If your tablet supports S Pen, open Air Command and choose Screen Write to annotate a capture before saving it. This is an optional tool for supported models; an S Pen is not needed for the standard button screenshot.

If a screenshot method does not work
- Buttons do nothing: press and release Power and Volume Down together after a brief moment. Check your model’s manual for button names and placement.
- Palm swipe does nothing: confirm that the setting exists and is enabled, and that the keyboard is not on screen. If the option is absent, the feature may not be supported.
- Scroll capture is missing: that app or screen may not offer the control.
- A screen blocks capture: some apps or screens restrict screenshots for privacy or security reasons. Samsung does not promise a general workaround for those restrictions.
Samsung also describes opening a new capture from the notification panel, though the exact interface can vary by model and software.
