The screen flashes when the capture succeeds, and the image is saved to Gallery. For a long page, use Scroll capture from the toolbar that appears after the screenshot.
Take a standard screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Side/Power key and Volume Down together.
- Release both buttons after a brief moment. The screen flashes when the screenshot is taken.
Find the saved image in Gallery > Albums > Screenshots, or open My Files > Images. Samsung notes that button positions can vary across Galaxy models, so use the button labels rather than relying on a particular side of the phone. See Samsung’s Galaxy screenshot guide.
Use Palm swipe to capture
If you prefer a gesture, turn on Palm swipe to capture at Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures > Palm swipe to capture. Then swipe the edge of your hand horizontally across the display.
If the setting is missing or the gesture does not work, availability may depend on the phone’s model, hardware, software, or region. Samsung’s Galaxy S22 palm-swipe instructions also advise checking whether personal information is displayed when the gesture fails.

Capture a long webpage or other scrollable content
- Open the page or screen and take a standard screenshot with Side/Power and Volume Down.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture, shown as two downward arrows.
- Tap the icon again to extend the capture until you have included the content you need.
The Scroll capture icon may not appear if the content does not extend beyond one screen. Some apps and websites also do not permit scrolling screenshots. Samsung’s US screenshot instructions describe the toolbar and editing options.
Edit, find, and share the screenshot
The toolbar that appears after capture may offer options such as drawing or cropping before you save. To find a saved image later, open Gallery > Albums > Screenshots or My Files > Images. Use Share in either app to send it through an available sharing method.

Other ways to start a screenshot
- Voice assistant: Samsung describes screenshot capture using Bixby or Google Assistant when the assistant is enabled. The exact steps and availability can vary.
- Tasks Edge panel: Add the Take screenshot shortcut to the Tasks Edge panel if it is not already there, then tap it to capture the screen.
These alternatives depend on the assistant or panel being available and configured on your device. Samsung’s menus and features can vary by model, provider, region, and software version.

Some apps and screens block screenshots for privacy or security reasons. Samsung Canada states: “Some apps or screens may block screenshots due to privacy or security concerns.” If capture fails on a particular screen, the app may be protecting its content; no screenshot method is guaranteed to bypass that restriction. Menu wording and feature availability can also vary by software version and region.
