To take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy A21, press the Side/Power button and Volume Down at the same time, then release promptly. Open Gallery to view the saved image. For a long page, use Scroll capture from the screenshot toolbar if it appears; Palm swipe is an optional feature that may not be available on every A21 variant or software version.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Side/Power button and Volume Down simultaneously, then release both buttons promptly. A flash or capture animation may appear. Samsung documents this short press for Galaxy phones, and Android gives the same general shortcut: Samsung’s screenshot guidance and Android Help.
- Open Gallery to find the screenshot. Samsung and Android identify Gallery as a place to view captured images.
Avoid holding the buttons down. On some Samsung devices, a longer press can open power controls instead of capturing the screen.
Can you use Palm swipe on the Galaxy A21?
Possibly. Samsung says Palm swipe availability depends on the device model and operating system, so it is not guaranteed on every Galaxy A21 variant. Samsung’s SM-A217F/DS Galaxy A21 support page lists its Palm-swipe FAQ, but feature availability can vary.
- Open Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures.
- If Palm swipe to capture is listed, turn it on.
- Swipe the side of your hand across the screen to capture it.
If the option is missing, use the button shortcut. A Samsung Members discussion includes an A21s owner who did not have the setting; that is an individual report, not proof that the feature is absent from all A21s phones.

Capture a long or scrolling page
Scroll capture can add more of a scrollable page to a screenshot. It begins with a normal screenshot and depends on the screenshot toolbar being available.
- Open the page and take a screenshot with Side/Power and Volume Down.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture. The phone scrolls down and adds more content to the capture.
- Continue using the control as needed, then open Gallery to view the result.
If Scroll capture is not shown, check whether the screen has more content to scroll and whether the screenshot toolbar is enabled in the capture settings. Samsung’s related Galaxy A-series guidance describes toolbar setup, but exact setting names and paths can differ by software release. Some screens or apps may not offer additional scrollable content.

Which screenshot method should you use?

Troubleshoot screenshot problems
- The buttons open power controls: Press Side/Power and Volume Down together briefly, then release rather than holding them.
- Palm swipe is missing: Check Motions and gestures. If the setting is not there, use the button method; gesture support varies by model and software.
- Scroll capture does not appear: Confirm the page can scroll and check the screenshot toolbar setting. The control may not be offered for every screen.
- You cannot find the image: Open Gallery and look for the completed screenshot.
