To capture an entire webpage in BrowserStack Screenshots, enter its URL, choose the browser and device configurations you want to check, then generate the screenshots. BrowserStack documents full-page captures for most supported browsers, with an exception for Opera and Safari 5.1: those produce an image of the visible area before scrolling. The steps below apply to BrowserStack’s URL-based Screenshots tool, not to a screenshot taken from a Selenium test.
Take a full-page screenshot in BrowserStack Screenshots
- Open BrowserStack Screenshots. Use the URL-based screenshot tool at BrowserStack Screenshots.
- Enter the page URL. Provide the address of the webpage you want to capture. Use a URL that is accessible to the service; a page behind a login or other access restriction may not render as it does in your own signed-in browser.
- Choose browser and device configurations. Select the combinations that match the browsers, operating systems, and screen sizes you need to inspect. BrowserStack’s product page says one user can generate screenshots for up to 25 browser/device combinations at once; this is a product limit that may change.
- Set capture options if needed. BrowserStack lists resolution, image quality, defer time, and mobile layout among the available settings. Use a defer time when the page needs a little time to finish rendering before capture. The labels and availability of options can change.
- Generate and inspect the results. Review each image at full size and check the selected browser/version if an output shows only the initial viewport.
BrowserStack’s support FAQ, checked on October 3, 2026, says full-page screenshots are provided for all browsers except Opera and Safari 5.1. For those two specifically, it says the capture shows only the visible area before scrolling. The FAQ does not say that every Safari version has this limitation.
Choose configurations that answer your testing question
For a quick visual check, select the browser and device combinations your visitors actually use. If the aim is to catch a layout defect, include the configuration where it occurs and a nearby comparison configuration. BrowserStack positions Screenshots as a way to compare how a URL renders across browser and device combinations; it is a static screenshot workflow rather than a full interactive debugging session.
The Screenshots product page describes the options and workflow, but account access and option availability can vary. Check the current product page if a setting is missing or if you need more combinations than the stated per-user limit.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Why the result may show only the visible area
- Check the browser and version first. BrowserStack’s documented full-page exception names Opera and Safari 5.1. Do not assume the same caveat applies to all Safari versions.
- Allow the page to render. If content appears late, adjust the defer time in the capture settings and generate the image again.
- Distinguish a screenshot from a visual-regression snapshot. Percy is a separate BrowserStack product. Its documentation discusses CSS overflow clipping when a Percy snapshot shows only the viewport and suggests a Percy-specific CSS adjustment; that is not a guaranteed fix for the Screenshots tool.
Automate captures with BrowserStack’s Screenshots API
If you need repeatable screenshot jobs rather than manual URL entry, BrowserStack documents an API workflow: submit a URL and browser/OS/device configuration, then retrieve job status and screenshot results. The API documentation says access is limited to Automate plans that include browsers. It describes authentication with a BrowserStack username and access key. Check your plan and credentials before building against it; the available options and plan requirements may change.
See BrowserStack’s Screenshots API documentation for the current request format, configuration fields, and result retrieval steps. The API is a separate workflow from the Screenshots web page; do not treat Selenium screenshot methods as API instructions.

When Selenium or Percy is the better fit
Selenium for screenshots inside an automated test
Use Selenium when the capture belongs in a browser automation test—for example, after navigating through an application flow. BrowserStack’s Selenium guide notes that the default screenshot commonly captures the viewport and that full-page support varies by browser. It shows Firefox’s getFullPageScreenshotAs method and an AShot scroll-and-stitch example for browsers such as Chrome. Those approaches are code-driven alternatives, not steps for the BrowserStack Screenshots UI. See BrowserStack’s Selenium screenshot guide for the methods and browser qualifications.
Percy for visual regression workflows
Choose Percy when the goal is to capture and compare visual changes over time, rather than simply download a static screenshot. If a Percy snapshot is clipped to the viewport, its documentation recommends identifying the element whose CSS overflow clips the page and using Percy CSS to reset that overflow. That advice applies to Percy snapshots, not to BrowserStack Screenshots generally. See Percy’s full-page screenshot troubleshooting.
