Post Tags and Tag Cloud blocks have their own styling controls; the tag archive’s layout is changed through a template. The exact controls depend on your WordPress version and active theme.
Choose the right way to style tags
WordPress tags are terms in a default taxonomy used to group posts. Unlike categories, tags do not have a hierarchy. That shared term system can appear in different places, but each display has a different styling route.

Block settings change the appearance of the tag display itself. A template controls the structure and layout of the archive page, so changing one is not a substitute for styling the other.

Find the Post Tags block
The Post Tags block displays the tags assigned to a post. It is commonly placed in a single-post template or inside a Query Loop. In a block theme, open the Site Editor and navigate to the template or post layout where those links appear. Select the Post Tags block to inspect its controls. If you are editing a post or page rather than a template, use the editor interface available in your setup; the block must be present in the content for its settings to apply.

Adjust the block’s appearance
Depending on the theme and editor setup, the block’s controls can include text, background, and link colors; typography; and dimensions. You can also set a separator between tags and add an additional CSS class in the advanced settings. Adjust the relevant controls in the block’s settings or Styles panels and check the preview to confirm how the links look in context. Theme support affects which color options are available. Customize a Tag Cloud
Add and configure the block

In the post, page, or template where the cloud should appear, add the Tag Cloud block.

Select the taxonomy you want the block to display. The block can display tags or categories; choose tags for a tag cloud.

Set the number of tags and the smallest and largest font sizes in the block settings. These options control which terms appear and the range of their text sizes.

Open the Styles panel and choose the Default or Outline style if those options are available. Adjust typography and dimensions to suit the surrounding content.
The Tag Cloud block’s appearance and available style options can vary with the theme. Its advanced settings also include an HTML anchor, an additional CSS class, and an Additional CSS setting. See the WordPress Tag Cloud block documentation for details.

Change the tag archive page
A tag archive is the page that lists posts associated with a particular tag. To change its layout in a block theme, open the Site Editor and edit the relevant archive template. WordPress documentation describes the All Archives template as covering tag archives as well as other archive types; it is used as a fallback when a more specific template is not found. If you edit a shared template, the change applies to every page or post that uses it, not just one tag archive. Learn more in the WordPress Template Editor documentation.
Use the template to change the archive’s structure—for example, which blocks appear and how the post listing is arranged. Use block-level styling for the colors, typography, or spacing of individual elements within that layout. Block themes include the Site Editor and Styles features; Styles provides site-level aesthetic and layout controls as well as block-level customization. WordPress documentation states that Styles is included in block themes and requires WordPress 5.9 or higher. See WordPress Styles overview and WordPress Site Editor documentation.
Use custom CSS when the editor controls are not enough
For a Tag Cloud, you can enter CSS in the block’s Additional CSS setting or add an additional CSS class and target that class in your site’s CSS. For a Post Tags block, an additional CSS class can help scope your styles. This lets you avoid unintentionally changing other links or tag displays across the site.

Do not assume one CSS selector will work on every WordPress site. The rendered markup and available settings depend on the active theme and WordPress version. Inspect the rendered block to identify the element and class you need to target, then preview the result on the front end. If the markup or theme changes later, check that the styling still applies.

You are changing the wrong output: Confirm whether the target is a Post Tags block, a Tag Cloud block, or a tag archive template.

You cannot find the Site Editor: The Site Editor and its template controls are features of block themes. The available editing route depends on the active theme and site setup.

Your archive edit affects other pages: Check which template you edited and which pages use it. A shared template change affects all pages or posts that use that template.

CSS changes too many elements: Add a block-specific CSS class and scope your rule to it rather than styling a broad link selector.
