XSplit says direct simultaneous outputs require a Broadcaster Premium or Premium Bundle license. This is different from Multi Output Mode, which creates multiple canvas formats rather than simply adding destinations.
Before you start: choose the kind of multiple output you need
- Several platforms, same production: Set up one broadcast output for each destination. This is the standard multistream workflow.
- Different layouts or aspect ratios: Use Multi Output Mode to build separate canvases, such as landscape and portrait. XSplit marks this feature as beta in its support guide.
- Several channels managed through a relay: XSplit also documents a Restream output integration. Its current plan limits and pricing are not established here, so check Restream directly before choosing it.
XSplit Support’s guide, updated October 11, 2025, says direct simultaneous output is available with a Broadcaster Premium or Premium Bundle license. Check XSplit’s current licensing and interface before setup because license availability and controls can change. XSplit’s multistream instructions
Set up direct outputs for each platform
- Confirm your license. Make sure your XSplit Broadcaster account has the Broadcaster Premium or Premium Bundle license required by XSplit’s multistream guide.
- Add the first destination. In Broadcaster, open Broadcast > Set up a new output, then select the platform output you want. Repeat this step for every destination you plan to stream to.
- Configure and authorize each output. Follow the selected output’s setup wizard. XSplit’s getting-started guide describes selecting a platform and completing its authentication setup. The precise screens depend on the output plugin and the current Broadcaster interface.
- Start the outputs. Open the Broadcast menu and start each configured output. XSplit says active outputs appear as live in that menu; check each destination’s status rather than assuming one start command covers every output.
XSplit’s product page describes native platform plugins and Custom RTMP for supported destinations. Its supported-sites page names examples including Twitch, YouTube Live, Facebook Live, Dailymotion, and Vimeo Livestream; plugin availability can change, so check the current output list for your service. If the platform is not listed: use Custom RTMP
Custom RTMP is the fallback when a destination is absent from XSplit’s output list but accepts RTMP ingest. Look for Custom RTMP in the output setup options, then enter the RTMP server URL and stream key supplied by that platform. The exact credential steps are platform-specific; obtain them from its live-streaming settings and keep the key private. When a relay such as Restream makes sense
If you would rather configure a single XSplit output and manage several destination channels through a relay, XSplit documents a Restream output plugin. Its guide covers installing the plugin, authorizing a Restream account, configuring encoding options, and starting that output. This is an alternative workflow to creating separate native outputs. Use Multi Output Mode for different formats, not just destinations
Choose Multi Output Mode when one production needs distinct canvas layouts or formats—for example, a horizontal composition and a portrait composition. XSplit describes separate canvases with independent controls and resolutions linked to the same scene. Its November 14, 2025 announcement characterized the feature as producing streams with different resolutions, aspect ratios, and platform destinations; the support guide identifies it as beta. This mode does not replace the direct-output steps above: one addresses how the production is formatted, while the other addresses where it is sent. YouTube Dual Stream eligibility is also subject to YouTube and XSplit availability. XSplit’s March 2026 release notes said eligible users could use Multi Output for YouTube Dual Stream, but encoder access was then limited to selected users and stream-key credentials had to be copied manually from YouTube Live Studio. What you need—and what you do not
- License: Direct simultaneous outputs require the Broadcaster Premium or Premium Bundle tier according to XSplit’s October 11, 2025 support guide.
- Destination support: Use a native output when available; otherwise, Custom RTMP is an option only if the destination accepts RTMP ingest.
- Capture hardware: A capture card is relevant when bringing in an external camera or console source, not because you are streaming to multiple services. XSplit lists Elgato among compatible hardware. XSplit optimized hardware
- Current platform rules: Each destination can apply its own account, content, and live-streaming requirements. Check those rules and your account’s eligibility before going live.
Troubleshooting common multistream problems
- The output you need is missing. Check Find more outputs for an available plugin. If the service is not listed, use Custom RTMP only if the destination supports RTMP.
- You cannot start more than one output. Check that your Broadcaster license is the required Premium or Premium Bundle tier, then confirm that each destination has its own configured output.
- The platform rejects the stream key or connection. Recheck the RTMP URL and key in the destination’s own streaming settings, and ensure you selected the matching XSplit output or Custom RTMP configuration. Never share or publish a stream key.
- A destination does not show as live. Check its individual status in the Broadcast menu and verify the platform’s live dashboard. Separate outputs may have separate connection or authorization states.
- Your portrait and landscape streams do not have separate layouts. Configure canvases in Multi Output Mode; adding multiple platform outputs alone does not create different aspect-ratio layouts.
- YouTube Dual Stream controls are unavailable. The March 2026 XSplit notes described selected-user encoder access and manual key copying from YouTube Live Studio. Check current XSplit and YouTube eligibility rather than assuming the feature is enabled for every account.
