For storage longer than 30 days, the surfaced RYOBI 4V lithium-ion battery manual says to store the battery below 27°C (80.6°F) with at least 30–50% charge. After six months, it recommends running the battery in a tool until it has discharged about 10–20%, then charging it. These are instructions in an Australian manual for 4V batteries; check the manual for your exact USB Lithium model and region before treating them as universal.
Storage guidance in the RYOBI 4V manual
The detailed instructions below come from RYOBI’s 4V Lithium-Ion Battery original instructions, distributed through Bunnings in Australia. The surfaced source does not state a publication year.
- More than 30 days: Store the battery below 27°C (80.6°F) and at a minimum 30–50% charge. The manual gives that range; it does not establish a single more precise target.
- After six months: Run the battery in a tool until it has discharged about 10–20%, then charge it.
The manual also says to remove the battery from its charging cable once it is fully charged and ready for use. It does not recommend leaving it connected as a storage method.
Check that the instructions match your battery
RYOBI USB Lithium is a 4V battery system. Do not substitute advice from a RYOBI 18V ONE+ manual: those are different systems, and their instructions are not interchangeable. Identify the battery model and consult its matching manual before applying the Australian 4V manual’s numeric limits.

RYOBI’s US USB Lithium support and manuals page confirms that pack manuals are available, but the surfaced page does not show the model-specific storage text. This means the Australian manual’s figures should not be presented as confirmed instructions for every current US USB Lithium pack.
Temperature advice from RYOBI Australia
RYOBI Australia gives a general suggested range of 10°C to 37°C (50°F to 98.6°F) for battery storage and charging locations, and warns that storing batteries with no charge can reduce lifespan. Its battery charging guidance is general support advice, not a USB Lithium-specific manual. For a USB Lithium pack, follow the matching model manual first; use this regional guidance only as context.

- Check the label and find the manual for that exact battery model and region. RYOBI provides USB Lithium manuals through its support page.
- If the matching instructions confirm the Australian 4V guidance, charge the battery to the stated minimum 30–50% range before storing it longer than 30 days.
- Keep it in a location below 27°C (80.6°F), as that manual specifies.
- After six months, use the battery in a compatible tool to discharge about 10–20%, then charge it as directed.
- When charging is complete and the battery is ready for use, remove it from its charging cable.
No source cited here establishes a guaranteed lifespan, number of charge cycles, or need for a special storage case. RYOBI’s New Zealand general battery-care guidance is likewise not a substitute for the manual for your specific USB Lithium pack.
