How to store a RYOBI battery
Choose a cool, dry location
RYOBI UK recommends storing batteries at 5–20°C and avoiding extreme heat, cold, and humidity. This is UK manufacturer guidance, not a universal specification for every RYOBI battery. Check the manual for your model’s storage limits. Keep the battery somewhere dry and away from temperature extremes rather than in a damp shed or a place exposed to direct heat. Use model-specific guidance for extended storage
RYOBI UK’s storage article says to avoid leaving a battery fully charged or completely depleted for long periods. The same article also says “Store at maximum possible charge,” while RYOBI UK’s support FAQ advises fully charging batteries before long-term storage. Those instructions do not establish one consistent storage percentage for all battery families. Follow the manual for your exact pack instead of treating either general statement as a universal rule.
For US owners, RYOBI’s support page provides a model-number lookup for manuals, parts, and repair information. Battery family, charger model, region, and whether storage is routine or seasonal can all affect which instructions apply.

Check batteries during seasonal storage
RYOBI UK recommends checking stored batteries every few months; for winter, it specifically says to check them every 2–3 months. If the charge needs attention, use the instructions in the battery manual. Avoid allowing the pack to remain completely depleted for an extended period, consistent with RYOBI UK’s storage article.
Organise them safely without buying special equipment
A shelf or other organiser is optional; basic care depends on suitable conditions and model-specific instructions, not a special storage product. RYOBI UK describes its LINK battery storage shelf as designed for RYOBI batteries, but an organiser does not control temperature or replace proper storage guidance.

How to charge a RYOBI battery
Use the matching charger and manual
Use the charger specified for your battery and follow both products’ manuals, including any temperature limits. RYOBI UK’s FAQ says lithium-ion batteries require an ambient temperature of at least 10°C for optimum operation. That is the FAQ’s stated optimum-operation guidance; it should not be confused with a universal charging range for every pack and charger.
A RYOBI Europe catalogue from 2016 lists a 0–50°C charging range for particular legacy 18V charger models. Those model-specific historical limits are not current universal guidance. For a current battery and charger, use the matching manual rather than applying that older range.

Remove a full lithium-ion battery from the charger
RYOBI UK’s FAQ advises switching off the charger and removing a lithium-ion battery once it is fully charged. Follow the charger’s own manual if its instructions for your model specify otherwise.

The cited RYOBI guidance does not establish a percentage improvement in capacity, a guaranteed lifespan, or a universal cycle count from following these steps. The useful approach is to avoid unsuitable storage conditions, check the pack periodically during extended storage, and follow the instructions for the exact battery and charger. Do not buy a replacement battery for routine care; for example, RYOBI lists the 18V ONE+ 2Ah lithium-ion battery as model PBP003, but replacement is relevant only if you need a compatible new pack.
