To stop recurring spam sent to an iCloud Mail alias, mark the message as junk instead of merely deleting it. iCloud Mail can then automatically mark later messages from that sender as junk. If you no longer want the address receiving mail, disable it temporarily or delete it permanently in iCloud.com Mail settings; messages sent to either a disabled or deleted alias are returned to the sender.
1. Mark unwanted messages as junk
Reporting a message as junk is the best first step when you want to keep using the alias. Apple says that manually moving a message to Junk helps improve filtering and causes later messages from the same sender to be marked as junk automatically. Apple’s iCloud Mail junk-mail instructions cover iCloud.com and the Mail apps.
- On iCloud.com: Select the message, choose More > Move Message to Junk, or drag it to the Junk folder.
- On iPhone or iPad: Swipe left on the message, tap More, then tap Move to Junk.
- On Mac: Select the message and click the Junk button, or drag it to the Junk folder.
Deleting a message does not report it as junk, so use the Junk action for unwanted mail you want iCloud Mail to learn from.
2. Check Junk for messages that belong in your inbox
Filtering can catch legitimate mail. Review Junk periodically and move any wanted message back to the inbox or mark it as not junk. Apple says later messages from that sender will then no longer be marked as junk. Messages in Junk are automatically deleted after 30 days, so do not leave important mail there while deciding what to do with it. Apple documents the review and recovery behavior here.

3. Disable or delete an alias you no longer want
Use alias settings when you want to stop all mail addressed to that alias, rather than only filtering messages from particular senders. Apple supports up to three @icloud.com aliases after you set up a primary iCloud Mail address. Apple’s alias overview explains how aliases relate to the primary address.
- Sign in to iCloud.com and open Mail.
- Open Settings and select the alias you want to manage.
- For a temporary pause, check Disable alias and save your changes.
- For permanent removal, choose Delete alias and confirm.
Disabling can be reversed; deletion is permanent. In either case, Apple says messages sent to that address are returned to the sender rather than delivered to your inbox. 4. Choose the right option for the problem

5. Limit exposure when signing up for services
Give each website or service a separate address where practical, so you can disable or stop using the address associated with unwanted mail without changing the address you share elsewhere. With iCloud+, Hide My Email can create unique random addresses that forward to your personal address; Apple says you can deactivate or delete addresses you no longer need. Apple’s Hide My Email guide describes the feature. It is a preventive option for future sharing, not a way to block mail already being sent to an existing alias.
6. Reduce tracking from suspicious messages
Do not open suspected junk: Apple warns that opening it can alert the sender that your account is active. Apple also recommends Protect Mail Activity. The current documented paths are:
